A Humboldt penguin chick named "Ichigo" is set to make her public debut at DMM Kariyushi Aquarium in Tomigusuku City, Okinawa, starting March 20, 2026. Born on January 5, 2026, and raised by aquarium keepers, the chick will finally be introduced to the public alongside a series of spring break events running through April 5, 2026.
Penguin Baby "Ichigo" Public Debut & Keeper Talks
Ichigo, born January 5, 2026, will move into the exhibit area for the first time. Visitors can see her adorable appearance, including the fluffy down feathers that are only visible during this early stage of growth.
Throughout the event period, keepers will hold daily explanation sessions covering Ichigo's growth milestones and the ecology of Humboldt penguins.

Keeper talk schedule:
6 sessions daily: 10:00 AM / 11:00 AM / 12:00 PM / 1:00 PM / 2:00 PM / 3:00 PM
(Approximately 15 minutes per session)
Sessions may be cancelled without notice depending on the animal's condition.
Spring Break Discount for Okinawa Residents
A special residents' discount is available for Okinawa residents during the spring break period. Visitors must present a government-issued ID confirming Okinawa residency (driver's license, My Number Card, passport, etc.) at the ticket counter.

Participatory Collaborative Eisa Show
During spring break, DMM Kariyushi Aquarium is teaming up with "Oki" (桜輝), a creative Eisa group based in Okinawa that performs both domestically and internationally. Together, they will stage an original collaborative Eisa performance in front of the large ocean tank on the first floor.
The show features dynamic, colorful dancing against the backdrop of the massive tank filled with colorful fish. There is also a participation segment where visitors of all ages can join in the dancing. The aquarium's original characters "Petata" and "Patata" may also make an appearance.

Show times: 12:00 PM / 1:00 PM (approximately 30 minutes per session)
Location: In front of the 1F "Uchina" large ocean tank
