The Owari Tsushima Wisteria Festival is set to return to Tennogawa Park (Miyakawa-cho 1-chome, Tsushima City, Aichi Prefecture) from Wednesday, April 15 through Wednesday, April 29, 2026 (a public holiday).
A Grand Wisteria Trellis of Unrivaled Scale
Tsushima City was once known as "Fujinami no Sato" — a village synonymous with wisteria. The wisteria trellis at Tennogawa Park spans 275 meters in length and covers approximately 5,000 square meters, making it one of the most impressive in all of Japan. Twelve varieties of wisteria, centered on the nine-shaku variety, come into bloom, filling the air with a sweet fragrance.
Bathed in sunlight, the blossoms radiate vivid color, and the reflection of the wisteria in the irrigation channel flowing beneath the trellis — known as "Sakasa Fuji" (inverted wisteria) — creates a truly spectacular scene.

Fantastical Nighttime Illuminations
As evening falls, the entire park transforms with a wisteria light-up event. The illuminations run from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, casting a dreamlike glow over the blossoms and creating a very different atmosphere from the daytime scenery.

Various Events Held Throughout the Festival
During the Owari Tsushima Wisteria Festival, a variety of activities take place within the park. In the wisteria trellis area, local groups host outdoor tea ceremonies (nodate), reflecting the long-standing matcha culture that has been a part of daily life in Tsushima. Food stalls are set up in the Maruike area of the park, while local specialty products from Tsushima are on sale in the wisteria trellis area.
