Rokumei Coffee, Specialty Coffee Shop Founded in Nara in 1974, Opens New Shibuya Scramble Square Location

Rokumei Coffee, a specialty coffee shop founded in Nara in 1974 with a mission to "spread a circle of happiness," has opened its second Tokyo location — Rokumei Coffee Shibuya Scramble Square — on March 5, 2026.

About Rokumei Coffee

Rokumei Coffee is a specialty coffee shop that got its start in Nara Prefecture. The head roaster — who has won the Japan Coffee Roasting Championship (JCRC) — sources premium coffee beans from around the world and roasts them in-house using a proprietary method. Baristas work closely with each customer to recommend a cup that suits their taste and occasion.

What's Special About the Shibuya Scramble Square Location

The new Shibuya location has developed an exclusive blend called the Shibuya Scramble Square Blend — a cup with a vibrant, layered flavor profile designed to embody the energy of the city. To reflect the ever-changing landscape of Shibuya Scramble Square, the blend's composition and flavor profile will be updated seasonally.

The first iteration uses Colombian El Diviso, Ethiopian, and Costa Rican beans, all roasted from light to medium-light. The blend opens with bright, airy fruit notes; as you drink it, a complex sweetness reminiscent of various fruits — including white peach and lychee — develops, finishing with a clean, lingering aftertaste.

Prices:

  • Roasted beans 150g: ¥2,980
  • Drink: ¥750
  • Drip bag: ¥400

New Food Items

In conjunction with the opening, two new baked goods have been added to the lineup.

Black Bean and Hojicha Pound Cake

A Japanese-style pound cake featuring a cream made from carefully brewed hojicha with a hint of miso, which brings out the gentle sweetness of the black beans. Each bite reveals the rich, layered aroma of roasted tea and the umami of fermentation. Price: ¥490

Dried Fruit Pound Cake

A grown-up pound cake made with dried fruits soaked in spirits and rich butter, with a touch of cardamom for a refreshing finish. The deeply matured flavors unfold with every slice. Price: ¥490

All breads and baked goods are supplied directly from Rokumei Bakes, the brand's own bakery café, made with Nara Prefecture-grown wheat and rice flour and minimal additives.

The shop also offers a well-stocked retail section with drip bags, coffee bases, and more — catering to both everyday purchases and gift-giving.
