Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima to Reopen Renovated Top-Floor Rooms Under "Hiroshima Palette" Concept on March 20, 2026

Four rooms on the top 24th floor of Mitsui Garden Hotel Hiroshima — located along Heiwa Odori (Peace Boulevard) in Naka-ku, Hiroshima City — are set to reopen after renovation on March 20, 2026 (Friday, national holiday). Reservations for the renovated rooms opened on March 12, 2026.

The hotel, which first opened in July 1989 within walking distance of the Peace Memorial Park, welcomed approximately 120,000 guests in 2025, drawing visitors from both domestic and international destinations, including North America and Europe. In 2022, the hotel's restaurant "Cofleur" was converted into a lounge exclusively for hotel guests.

This latest renovation — covering one Junior Suite Twin and three Deluxe King rooms — introduces a new design concept called "Hiroshima Palette: Discover Hiroshima's Colors with Every Stay." The renovation is part of a broader phased upgrade that began in January 2026 and is planned to continue through March 2027.

Design Concept: "Hiroshima Palette"

The concept centers on layering the appeal of Hiroshima through color, offering guests a fresh encounter with the city on each visit. It merges the brand's "Stay in the Garden" ethos with local character, turning the guest rooms into spaces that reflect the richness of the region.

The Junior Suite Twin, the largest room type in the hotel at 56 m², draws inspiration from Miyajima Island, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Itsukushima Shrine. The interior features light blue and red as its base colors, with artwork on the headboard evoking the sunlight of Miyajima. Guests can also enjoy views of the Seto Inland Sea, its islands, and the Hiroshima cityscape from the main bedside window.

The three Deluxe King rooms take their cues from the maple leaf (momiji), the symbol of Hiroshima Prefecture, adopting a palette of brown and red. The headboard features artwork inspired by the oleander (夾竹桃 / kyochikuto), the city flower of Hiroshima, adding a subtle local touch to the room.

Expanded Capacity and Enhanced Amenities

As part of the renovation, room capacity has been increased. The Junior Suite Twin now accommodates up to four guests (previously two), while each Deluxe King can now host up to three (previously two). This makes the rooms suitable for families, groups, and inbound travelers staying multiple nights.

The bathroom layout has also been updated to a three-separate-unit design (bath, toilet, and washstand). The Junior Suite Twin additionally includes a refrigerator, microwave, and washing machine, making it well-suited for extended stays and workation use.
