An experience-based food festival is heading to central Tokyo this spring. Noujiru Yokocho 2026 is set to take place at Bellesalle Akihabara from May 29 (Fri) to May 31 (Sun), 2026, with the concept of "Houno-sai" (奉脳祭) — a festival dedicated to unleashing primal excitement and the thrill of loving something deeply.

What Is "Noujiru"?
"Noujiru" (脳汁) is a playful, informal term for the brain chemicals — dopamine, adrenaline, and the like — that flood the body during moments of surprise, achievement, or intense excitement. Originating as internet slang, the expression "noujiru ga deru" (your noujiru flows) describes a state of total absorption and exhilaration. Once tied closely to gaming and arcade culture, the term has since spread across generations, now broadly used to describe any moment where something just feels undeniably fun, thrilling, or passion-driven.
What to Expect at the Festival
The event brings together a range of immersive, multi-sensory experiences across food, music, and entertainment:
- Food and drink booths featuring original menus created in collaboration with creators
- Live stage area with performances by artists and DJs
- Immersive space design filled with light and sound for a non-everyday atmosphere
- Brain-stimulating activities such as puzzle-solving and games
Creative direction for the event is handled by Afromance, a multidisciplinary creator active as a creative director, event producer, and DJ.

The previous edition of Noujiru Yokocho, held in July 2025 at the same venue, attracted approximately 10,000 visitors. This 2026 edition promises to go even further with upgraded experiences.
