MEET Miyu · Sangenjaya

Now showing Miyu’s night

A local woman’s take on Tokyo nightlife

For Miyu, the best way to experience Tokyo is to spend an evening the way a local actually would — not following a tourist itinerary, but dropping into the everyday places people go for good food, drinks and conversation. Born in Osaka, she studied at a university in China and later worked for a Japanese company, including a recent posting in Vietnam, and started guiding after returning home because she wanted to keep meeting people from around the world. Her Tokyo runs through Sangenjaya, Shibuya and Shinjuku — the lively streets of Shinjuku 3-chome and 2-chome, the narrow lanes of Golden Gai, and the snack bars she is always hunting for. Tell her what kind of food, drinks, atmosphere or neighborhood you are after and she will build the route around it, ending up at the places she would actually visit herself rather than the most famous ones.

A SAMPLE NIGHT · 2–3 STOPS

Your 2 hours together, usually across two or three stops—stay longer anywhere that feels too good to leave.

Stop 1 · About 30–40 min

A casual local izakaya

Start the night at a relaxed neighborhood izakaya—the kind of place Miyu might visit after work, with good Japanese food, drinks, and a lively but comfortable atmosphere. She can recommend dishes and drinks that match what you like.

Stop 2 · About 30–40 min

A standing bar or neighborhood favorite

Move on to a standing bar, a neighborhood bar, or another hidden favorite and talk about Tokyo, food, travel, work, and everyday life over another drink. If you’re curious, she can also introduce you to the world of Japanese snack bars.

Stop 3 · About 30–40 min

A bar, snack bar, or local finish

Finish at a spot that matches your interests—or stay longer at the previous stop if the conversation is too good to leave. Tell Miyu what you’re into before the tour and she’ll create a route especially for you.

You can love traveling solo—and still want someone to share one night with.

Choose the energy beforehand: quiet, chatty, food-first, music-led, or a little of everything.

THE SMALL PRINT, PLAINLY

Good questions.

If something is still on your mind, ask us before you request a date.

Is this a bar crawl, party tour, or dating experience?

No. It is a private neighborhood experience for one or two travelers. There are no drinking games, party groups, forced mingling, or romantic expectations—just 2 easy hours with a local who knows the room, usually across two or three stops.

Do I have to drink alcohol?

Not at all. Tea, soda, and non-alcoholic drinks are completely welcome. The point is the setting and connection, not how much you drink.

What if I am introverted?

Perfectly fine. Choose a quieter local and tell us your preferred pace beforehand. You never have to perform, fill every silence, or keep the energy up.

Are food and drinks included?

They are paid directly to each venue, including your local’s. Before you order, they explain cover charges, small plates, and the expected total—no surprise bill.

Can I request a local of the same gender?

Yes. Tell us your preference when you inquire and we will do our best to match you with someone who helps you feel comfortable.
