13:00 Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal

It takes about 30 minutes by bus directly from Naganohara-Kusatsu-guchi.
Walk 5 minutes to your next destination🐾.

Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal is a bus stop located in Kusatsu-cho, Agatsuma-gun, Gunma Prefecture. It is located about a 5-minute walk from Yubatake, the main spot of Kusatsu Onsen. It is conveniently accessible and takes about 4 hours from Basta Shinjuku. If you need help, there is an information booth for tourist information on Kusatsu.

13:10 Kusatsu Onsen Yubatake (Hot Water Field)(草津温泉 湯畑)

Arrive at Yubatake, a place synonymous with Kusatsu Onsen.
It is said that 4000 liters of hot spring water gushes out every minute. ♨️ The hot spring water is nice, and it had a unique smell!

This is something you can wash your hands in a hot spring, which is available in several places in the Kusatsu Onsen area. A recent study found that they are effective in inactivating the new type of coronavirus! Washing your hands in a warm onsen and preventing infection is a relief and much appreciated.

Kusatsu Onsen Yubatake is a hot spring source located in Kusatsu, Kusatsu-cho, Agatsuma-gun, Gunma Prefecture. It is synonymous with Kusatsu Onsen, with 4,000 liters of hot spring water gushing out every minute. Surrounded by restaurants and souvenir shops, the area attracts many tourists. Parking is available, but it is crowded, so it is recommended to leave plenty of time for your visit. At night, the area is lit up and offers beautiful scenery. To get a taste of Kusatsu Onsen, a visit to Yubatake is a must. Kusatsu Onsen Yubatake has different attractions by day and by night, and can be enjoyed even by solo travelers.

13:30 Yamabiko Onsen manju (山びこ温泉まんじゅう)

I want to eat something since I’ve come all this way! And here we are, A long-established bun store whose original “fried sweets” are popular.
They are carefully fried one by one in front of you!

The crispy outside, sweet red bean paste and savory flavor were perfectly balanced.

Spot Outline

Yamabiko Onsen manju, located in Kusatsu-cho, Agatsuma-gun, Gunma Prefecture, is the main Onsen-manju production store. The “Aged Manju” sold at this store is a very popular sweet that is often introduced on TV and in magazines, and each one is carefully fried in front of your eyes. It is a great choice for souvenirs in Onsen town.

14:00 Nishi-no-Kawahara Park(西の河原公園)

Located on the west side of Kusatsu Onsen, it is a walking spot with hot springs gushing out from all over the riverbank.
It is about a 10-minute walk from Yubatake to Nishi-no-kawara-dori, a street lined with stores 😊.

It may be a surprisingly unknown spot…? The snowy scenery is really beautiful❄️. The seasonal scenery is also enjoyable!
There was also an open-air bath (for a fee) at the back of the park 😉.

Warm hot springs, known as yudamari, were gushing everywhere 🥺. What a happy park to have a hot spring right there .

Kusatsu Onsen water is acidic, so it made my skin smooth ✨✨.

Spot Outline

Nishi-no-Kawahara Park is a popular spot in Kusatsu-cho, Gunma Prefecture, where visitors can enjoy open-air baths and footbaths. The open-air baths in the park are quite large and are recommended for those who are looking for a hot spring bath. It is also illuminated at night, creating a fantastic atmosphere. There is also a visitor center at the far end of the riverbank where information on the hot springs can be obtained. From Yubatake, lined with stores, Nishi-no-Kawahara-dori can be reached in about 10 minutes on foot. You can relax and enjoy the scent of sulfur all around and the warm river current.

15:00 Mangado(漫画堂)

Returned to Yubatake and walked around Ura-Kusatsu! This is new attraction in Ura-Kusatsu just opened in August 2021.
You can enjoy more than 10,000 comic books! 📚. Adults can use it for 400 yen within 2 hours.
You can read it in this building or take it to the cafe right next door.

Located in Kusatsu-cho, Agatsuma-gun, Gunma Prefecture, Manga-do is a new spot with approximately 10,000 manga titles. Adults can use the facility for 2 hours for 400 yen. Manga can also be read in the café inside the building. It is attracting attention as a new place to visit in Kusatsu.

15:15 Jizo no Yu Mae Facial Hot Spring(地蔵の湯まえ顔湯)

This is also a new spot!
If you put your face in through the peephole-like part, you will be hit by steam from the hot spring water flowing below. ♨️
It’s also good for your skin.

Jizo no Yuyu Mae Facial Hot Spring,” located beside the Jizo source, is a facial hot spring spot where visitors can casually enjoy hot spring baths 24 hours a day, free of charge. The spring water flows directly under the “face bath,” and steam hits you when you look into the box. Word on the street is that it is good for the skin.

15:30 Footbath in front of Jizo-no-yu (地蔵の湯まえ足湯)

There is also a free footbath right next to it! Here’s another place to take a break: 💁‍♀️

16:00 Kusatsu Onsen Netsunoyu(草津温泉 熱乃湯)

Kusatsu Onsen is famous for its yumomi shows😍. Finally, I’m going to see my first “Yumomi”.

Netsunoyu, located in Kusatsu-cho, Agatsuma-gun, Gunma Prefecture, is a tourist facility spot where visitors can experience hot spring bathing. The famous “Yumomi Show,” a Kusatsu specialty, allows visitors to see how the hot water is lowered in temperature by firring the hot water with a long board. Visitors can also try their hand at yumomi, which is enjoyable for both children and adults. If you visit, be sure to try the yumomi experience as well.

Kusatsu Tropical World is a zoo located in Kusatsu-cho, Agatsuma-gun, Gunma Prefecture. Since it is indoors, visitors can enjoy sightseeing even on rainy days. Visitors can see and interact with tropical plants and small animals, and there are also crocodiles, snakes, and other reptiles. Admission is ¥1,100 for adults and ¥700 for children. Word of mouth recommends the close proximity to the animals and numerous interactions with them, the wide variety of animals, and the humor of the keeper’s biological explanation panels. This is a facility that is sure to please children.
