Nishinippori, Tokyo: 2 Day Itinerary for Enjoying a Hotel and Nearby Spots

Summary

This time, my friend and I visited Nishinippori and stayed at the hotel, FAV TOKYO Nishinippori, for one night, exploring the surrounding spots!
We enjoyed a standing bar specializing in wine, explored Yanaka Ginza, a nostalgic and historic shopping street established around 1945 with about 60 stores, visited an art gallery, and then savored delicious craft beer at a brewery.
At the hotel, we bought some snacks and rented games from the hotel for night time. We enjoyed drinking and played games, making it a fun girls’ hotel stay✨ Please take a look at this plan and hope it will be helpful for your trip planning!

Travel Itinerary (Day 1)

2:30pm Nishinippori Station(西日暮里駅)

Started from Nishinippori station!
Firstly, we are heading to the hotel for check-in.

Just a short walk from the East Exit!

The hotel we are heading to is within walking distance from the JR Nishinippori East Exit.

About a 4-minute walk from the station, we arrive at a hotel with a stylish and fashionable exterior✨ We’re going to stay here for tonight.

5:00pm Arakawa Stand(立ち飲みワイン 荒川STAND)

We chose this shop from the guidebooks placed in the hotel.
Located 10-minute walk from the hotel. It is a bustling standing bar with a red neon sign.

Arakawa STAND, located in Arakawa-ku, Tokyo, is a standing wine bar where you can enjoy mainly natural wines. After passing through the white curtain marked by red neon lights, you will be surrounded by counter seats arranged in a circular shape. Handwritten menus line the walls, and prices are reasonable and delicious. The space is so lively and homey that it is almost always full after 7:00pm, even on weekdays. It is a great place to visit with wine-loving friends.

7:00pm FAV TOKYO Nishinippori(FAV TOKYO 西日暮里)

After enjoying a glass of wine, we are back to the hotel!

Stop by the convenience store on our way home to buy drinks and snacks! Enjoy night drink at the hotel while playing board games that you can rent from hotel! The girls’ party is just the beginning✨

Travel Itinerary (Day 2)

09:30am FAV TOKYO Nishinippori(FAV TOKYO 西日暮里)

Have breakfast in our room and then head to check out!

Day 2 starts!

12:00pm Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street(谷中銀座商店街)

Go down the stairs called “Yuyake Dandan” leading to Yanaka Ginza shopping street and enter the shopping street.
We’re going to eat a lot of delicious food!

It is also recommended for cat lovers, as there are cat motifs all over the shopping street. Be aware that some stores close early in the evening.

12:10pm Yanaka Shippoya(やなか しっぽや)

Purchased item: Komugi (milk cream) 160 yen
It looks pretty, and the cream inside is rich and delicious!

Yanaka Shippoya is a store in Yanaka, Taito-ku, Tokyo, specializing in baked doughnuts featuring cat tails as a motif. The most popular item is “Tora,” a cocoa dough with white chocolate. With the concept of handmade snacks, there are so many varieties to choose from. You can also buy them as souvenirs.

12:20pm Niku no Suzuki (肉のすずき)

Purchased items: Mini minced meat cutlet and Mini pork fillet cutlet 170 yen

Its one-bite size is perfect for quick eating!

Niku no Suzuki is a butcher shop established in 1933 in Nishinippori, Arakawa-ku, Tokyo. The shop offers a wide variety of fried foods such as croquettes and menchikatsu, making it a great place to eat and drink. The “Toro Toro Yaki-Buta” is made with three kinds of secret sauce, and it takes four hours to produce.

12:30pm Niku no Satō(肉のサトー)

Surprised at the price of 50 yen per!
The skin is crispy and the meat is juicy.

Tebasaki karaage (fried chicken wings) 50 yen per

Spot Outline

Niku no Satō is a butcher shop in Yanaka, Taito-ku, Tokyo, famous for its fried food. It is especially famous for its juicy and crispy Yanaka menchi (minced meat cutlet), which once won fifth place in the Tokyo Delicious Food Awards in 2007. 12:40pm Maruhatsu Fukushima Shōten(丸初福島商店)

Grilled oyster with herb salt flavor : 280 yen per piece (Winter limited menu)
The oyster was big and plump! The herb salt was great.

Maruhatsu Fukushima Shōten is a traditional shellfish and river fish store located in Yanaka, Taito-ku, Tokyo. It’s also a great place to eat and stroll around in the Yanaka shopping street, where its shellfish skewers and grilled fish are popular for their delicious taste.

12:50pm Echigoya Honten(越後屋本店)

This is a kakuuchi bar where you can bring in food from other shops.
Standing style bar, and pets are allowed outside.
We enjoyed drinking from noon!

Echigoya Honten is a sake shop located in Yanaka, Taito-ku, Tokyo. With a wide selection of sake, authentic shochu, and wine, the store is well-loved by locals. Customers can bring in snacks bought in the shopping arcade, and on fine days, they can enjoy their drinks at the outside standing area. The cat on the roof is a landmark.

1:30pm Ichifuji(いちふじ)

We had big appetite so we also bought bento box here lol
The karaage bento is an amazing price of 290 yen! How cheap!
It was served with chili sauce, and the rice was cooked to perfection✨

sōzai ICHIFUJI is a specialty delicatessen located in Yanaka, Taito-ku, Tokyo. This store sells a wide variety of prepared foods at very reasonable prices, and is so popular that customers line up in Yanaka Ginza to get in. However, please note that photography is prohibited.

2:00pm WALLS TOKYO

With our full stomachs, we took a walk around Nippori for exercise.
We wanted to see art so we came to a select shop of contemporary art. It features a wide selection of works from all over the world.

3:00pm Okei Brewery Nippori

Finally, we came to a brewery where we could receive recommendations to pair craft beers with food.

Half-boiled egg and truffle-flavored mayonnaise = Ufumayo: 410 yen

My first Ufumayo! Half-boiled egg is awesome!

Salmon and avocado tartar: 950 yen

The chef’s birthday happened to fall on that day we visited, so there was also a limited edition menu available.
They were all delicious!

Okei Brewery Nippori is a restaurant in Higashi-Nippori, Arakawa-ku, Tokyo, where you can enjoy home-brewed craft beer. Located just a short walk from Nippori Station, Okei Brewery Nippori offers a wide variety of snacks to go with its beers.
