Summary

Okayama Prefecture, nicknamed the “Land of Sunshine, Okayama,” is known by its residents for its mild climate and low precipitation.
This time, we are going on a one-day excursion to the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, one of the most popular and well-known sightseeing spots.

Known as a castle town, transportation hub, and fruit-growing region, Okayama was packed with charm ✨

We had a moist and mature trip with stylish cafes and stores renovated from historical buildings and even local sake at the end of the trip.

11:30am Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter(倉敷美観地区)

Walking through the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, you will see a townscape rich in emotion✨

There are fashionable Kurashiki brand stores such as “Kurashiki Hampu” and “Kurashiki Denim”.
Cafes and other shops in renovated townhouses are lined up in the area, and many new encounters are likely to take place.

The Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, located in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, is a historic site known as a tourist attraction. It is a place that can be enjoyed by both children and adults, and with its emotionally rich streets and fashionable stores, it is highly regarded as a place you will want to go back to.

12:00pm Taisho bower(大正亭)

First, we will eat lunch.

Located on the east side of the Ohara Museum of Art, this restaurant serves Kurashiki’s local cuisine.

The menu is mainly small fish dishes freshly caught in the Seto Inland Sea, and there are many seasonal specialties.

When I entered the restaurant, I felt very relaxed because of the unique atmosphere of a long-established restaurant.

This time I ordered ,
“Okayama Barazushi” (A traditional sushi colorfully decorated with a lot of fresh fish and seasonal vegetables), considered a Japanese Heritage item, 1,750 yen
The colorful appearance is overwhelming,
When I brought it to my mouth, I could smell the fish! It was a very luxurious lunch.

Taisho bower is a restaurant located in Honmachi, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, that focuses on local cuisine and seafood dishes. The restaurant is especially recommended for its small fish dishes freshly caught in the Seto Inland Sea, and offers a wide variety of seasonal dishes such as mamakarizushi, nodate bento, makunouchi, and Setouchi gozen. The restaurant’s interior has the unique atmosphere of a long-established restaurant, allowing customers to enjoy their meals in a relaxed atmosphere. According to word of mouth, the Okayama Barazushi is especially recommended. Also, since it is located near Yuurin-an, it is an easy place to stop by during sightseeing.

1:30pm Traditional Boat Tour of Kurashiki Canal(くらしき川舟流し)

Next, we went to experience the Traditional Boat Tour of Kurashiki Canal✨

The river is located in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter,
In the past, the area was crowded with river boats carrying goods. The river boat floating tour is a great way to experience the atmosphere of the old days.

The captain’s stories about Kurashiki were pleasant as the boat moved slowly along.

Traditional Boat Tour of Kurashiki Canal in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, is an experience and activity spot. For a reasonable price of 500 yen for adults and 250 yen for children, you can enjoy the boatman’s Kurashiki talk. Tickets are only sold on the day of the tour and can be purchased at the Kurashikikan Tourist Information Center. 2:30pm Parlor Fruits Komachi(パーラー果物小町)

I was a little hungry, so I went to a cafe.

This one is located a short distance away from the main street of the Bikan Historical Quarter,
You can enjoy original SWEETS made with fruits that Okayama, the fruit kingdom, is proud of.

I ordered this time,
“Today’s Fruit Parfait” 1,000 yen
The famous Pione is used to make soft-serve ice cream,
Fruits such as bananas, strawberries, and kiwis are all over the place.
There are many different flavors, so I enjoyed it all the way through!

Parlor Fruits Komachi is a fruit parlor located in Chuo Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. Located a short distance from the main street of the Bikan Historical Quarter, it has terrace seats in a courtyard with bamboo bushes. The parfaits using plenty of brightly colored fruits from Okayama are popular, and we recommend the fruit parfait with soft-serve ice cream made from the famous Pione and filled with bananas, strawberries, kiwi, and other fruits. The parfait is also popular by word of mouth as it looks great on social networking sites.

3:30pm Kurashiki Denim Street(倉敷デニムストリート)

After enjoying the parfait, we decided to look for souvenirs!

The Kojima district of Kurashiki is said to be the birthplace of domestic jeans.
In honor of this, Denim Street has,
There are many denim products made in Kojima, as well as denim accessories and decorations.

We ended up buying denim coasters.
There’s also a take-out section.
There were interesting menu items in denim-like blue colors, such as “Denim Soft (denim colored soft cream)” and “Denim Man (denim colored meat bun),” both of which are flavored with ramune.

Kurashiki Denim Street, located in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, is a place where visitors can enjoy restaurants, fashion, and shopping. Since the Kojima area is said to be the birthplace of domestic jeans, a wide variety of denim products, accessories, and decorative items made in Kojima are available. Take-out gourmet foods are also available, including “denim soft” and “denim man,” an interesting menu of denim-like blue-colored items. 4:00pm Ozakiya(おざきや)

After purchasing a denim man, I also wanted something sweet, so I went here.

The modern-looking building is filled with colorful dumplings and “Kibidango (Okayama Prefecture’s representative confectionery)” dumplings from Momotaro.

I bought two and sat on the river in front of them to enjoy them.

Ozakiya is a tenement-style spot in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. Word of mouth has it that the colorful dumplings are popular, with each color having a different flavor and a luxurious taste. Sake and other drinks can also be enjoyed. Since it is located on the banks of the Kurashiki River, you can also take pictures of your gourmet food with the beautiful scenery in the background.

5:30pm Okayama local Beer Market Kurabia-tei(おかやま地ビール市場 蔵びあ亭)

Last but not least, alcohol.
I was looking for a place where I could drink Kurashiki’s local sake, and I found it!

Go to the restaurant in front of the first one.

Once inside, you will find a spacious room with a tatami room and a counter where you can relax and have a drink.
I ordered “Sasa” and “Kurashiki Monogatari” for 300 yen each.
I thought it was easy to drink with a refreshing aftertaste.
