This time we visited Onomichi in spring. This is a plan for a day of relaxing and enjoying the scenery during the beautiful cherry blossom season.Ride the ropeway, take the ferry, or take an unusual walk to refresh yourself! Onomichi Station(尾道駅)
Starting from Onomichi Station✨ From here we will walk to see the cherry blossoms!
Onomichi Station, located in Higashi Gosho-cho, Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is a station on the West Japan Railway (JR West) Sanyo Main Line. From Onomichi Station, it is convenient to travel to Hiroshima Station and to Fukuyama Station. It is often used as a base for exploring Onomichi and is a popular spot for tourists.
10:00 Cherry blossom bank in Onomichi
This is a row of cherry trees along the river beloved by the locals.
Is it because it is along the river? The flowers were still in full bloom.
It was lovely to see the buds so close by.

Onomichi no Sakura Dote” is a spot of cherry tree-lined streets along a river in Numakuma-cho, Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture. This place, beloved by local residents, is filled with beautiful cherry blossoms in spring, delighting visitors. It is also known as a place where visitors can enjoy not only cherry blossom viewing, but also strolling and picnicking.
11:00 Ogonbao Bar Yamato Tou (Yam Tou)
Once back to the station, we went to the Onomichi Main Street shopping street. This is not a public bath…? This is not a public bath, but a Chinese restaurant!This restaurant was renovated from a building that used to be a public bathhouse ✨. This retro appearance has a nice atmosphere.I enjoyed the remnants of public bathhouses everywhere in the restaurant!

Yamato Yu Yam Tou, located in Tsuchido, Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is a Chinese restaurant in a renovated building that was once a public bathhouse. The retro exterior and the interior of the restaurant, which still retains the vestiges of a public bathhouse, create a fun atmosphere. 12:30pm Mt. Senkoji Ropeway(千光寺山ロープウェイ)
Next, take the ropeway to the observation deck!One adult can ride for ¥320.

The Senkoji Ropeway in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is a ropeway that passes over a shrine and a temple. It is the best way to get to Senkoji Park while enjoying the scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. It is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on weekends and holidays (with temporary closure in case of stormy weather). Fares are 500 yen one-way for adults and 700 yen round-trip, and 250 yen one-way for children and 350 yen round-trip.
13:00 Senkoji Park Observatory PEAK
A spiral staircase-like observation deck right in front of you as you exit the observatory. Lovely and powerful! The observatory was recently reopened and was very beautiful.
The view from the top is spectacular! Especially during the cherry blossom season, you can enjoy both the city and the cherry blossoms ✨. I have a feeling it will become a new landmark in Onomichi….

Senkoji Park Observatory PEAK, located in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is a newly renovated observatory. It features a modern design and a powerful spiral staircase. The view from the top is spectacular, offering a panoramic view of the city of Onomichi and the Onomichi Waterway. Visitors can also enjoy the city and cherry blossoms during the cherry blossom season. The observatory is free of charge, so feel free to drop by.
13:30 Senkoji Park
Senkoji Park, which was also visible from the observation deck. I was happy to see many cherry trees in bloom here! It was a great day for cherry blossom viewing.

Senkoji Park, located in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, stretches from the top to the middle of Senkoji Mountain and is famous for its cherry blossoms. The park is also home to the Onomichi City Museum of Art and the Path of Literature, and from the top of the mountain you can see Onomichi City, the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, and the Shikoku mountain range. At night, visitors can enjoy a night view of the Onomichi Waterway area, and the park has been recognized as a sacred place for lovers.
14:15 Onomichi Ferry Pier
Next, take a ferry to Mukojima Island.This boat seems to be able to carry bicycles and cars as it is!
Tickets are apparently not required, and adults can ride for between 60 and 100 yen per person.

Onomichi Watership Ferry Pier is located in Tsuchido, Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The catchphrase “the shortest boat ride in Japan” has attracted much attention, and bicycles can be carried on board.
Mukaishima Island (向島)
Mukojima is one of the most popular islands on the Shimanami Kaido, known for its beautiful nature. It only took us about 5 minutes to get there. It went by so fast, but it was fun!
Mukojima Island, located in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is one of the islands on the Shimanami Kaido. Visitors can cross by ferry and rent bicycles to enjoy cycling. The island has been used as a filming location for movies and offers scenery that is hard to find in Japan today.
14:30 Rondine
Upon arriving on the island, the first thing I headed for was a café-restaurant that makes use of the inn’s cafeteria, which is not used during the day.I will have a parfait! This cute building here actually seems to be an accommodation facility.
The fresh pasta using seasonal ingredients from the Seto Inland Sea, the chef’s specialties, looked delicious.

15:30 Kanayoshi Hill
After cooling off with a parfait and coffee, climb Kanayoshi Hill. It was quite a climb, so tough that it left me breathless!But the view from the top is great, so it is worth the effort.It was really nice to see the entire Onomichi area and the cherry blossoms!

Kenyoshi Hill, located in Mukaishima-cho, Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, is a small hill on the opposite shore of Onomichi, Mukaishima. Although the climb to the top is a bit tough, the view from the top is excellent, offering a panoramic view of the entire Onomichi area. It is especially popular by word of mouth for its beautiful cherry blossoms during the cherry blossom season.

Finally, a bakery loved by the locals.It is a restaurant with a long history, founded in 1916.
It seemed to open at 6:00 a.m., though the selection was much smaller,We got some delicious looking souvenir bread!

Onomichi Watership Kanekichi Boarding Terminal is a ferry terminal located in Mukaishima-cho, Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. There is no timetable at this spot, and the ferry runs round-trip every 10 minutes from the first to the last departure.
