Asakusa Hanayashiki, Japan's oldest amusement park located in Asakusa, Tokyo, is reopening its rooftop area on March 20, 2026 (Friday, national holiday). The renovated space draws inspiration from the park's origins — it was established in 1853 as a flower garden called "Hanayashiki," which later evolved into the beloved amusement park it is today.
The renewed rooftop is surrounded by 87 (pronounced "hana," meaning "flower" in Japanese) varieties of plants and greenery, a tribute to the park's floral roots. From the rooftop, visitors can take in panoramic views of the park grounds and nearby Senso-ji Temple, making it a new photography spot to enjoy. The area can also serve as a relaxing break spot or a calmer dining location after riding the park's various attractions. The design and construction were handled by Daiichi Engei Co., Ltd., a plant and garden specialist celebrating its 128th anniversary.

Spring-themed events related to the rooftop are also planned for the spring vacation period, with details expected to be announced in early March.
Free Spring Flowers for the First 250 Visitors
To celebrate the rooftop reopening, the first 250 visitors to the park on March 20 will receive a complimentary spring flower. Available while supplies last.

Commemorative Tree: Mame-zakura Cherry
A Mame-zakura (dwarf cherry) has been planted on the rooftop as a commemorative tree. The flower language for this variety is "graceful beauty." Small and understated yet a clear herald of spring, the tree is intended to provide a calming presence for visitors while enhancing the charm of the newly refreshed rooftop garden.
