Bunshodo Co., Ltd., which has been operating in Zushi City, Kanagawa Prefecture since 1925, opened a new hobby stationery and stamp shop called Chimacal-do on November 12, 2025 (Wednesday).
The shop operates at the former Bunshodo location in front of JR Zushi Station, which closed in July 2025.
Shop Concept
Chimacal-do is a stationery shop where stationery enthusiasts and local residents can experience the fun and excitement of stationery products.
The shop name is short for "chimatto shita culture" (small-scale culture). "Chimatto shita" means modest, a little bit, or small.
With analog tools like stationery handled at hand, the shop aims to provide small moments of relaxation and enjoyment during work, study, and daily life.
"Chimatto" represents stationery, paper goods, miscellaneous items, and personal belongings. "Culture" expresses the desire to cherish one's own culture and values.
Rather than everyday office supplies, the shop selects items that are exciting and fun to look at, like a general store, while focusing mainly on stationery alongside various miscellaneous goods.
Concept
Adding color to daily life with stationery. Small stationery items that make every day a little more enjoyable.
The shop has selected stationery that isn't just functional, but makes you feel good and happy just by having it. The interior features colorful and lively displays, while the fixtures maintain a calm, old American style color scheme that doesn't interfere when choosing products.
Original Products and Equipment
Original Glass Pens
Original Chimacal-do glass pens inspired by the ocean, created by glass pen artist Emi Fujita's production line Kokeshi:
- SUNSHINE
- DEEPSEA
- FLOATING BALL
These feature vibrant glass spheres with glass grip functionality.

Original Stamp Creation Machine - OSOMO
The shop has introduced OSOMO by Shachihata, which allows easy custom stamp creation from smartphones.
Continuing from Bunshodo, this introduction aims to make stamps more accessible and enjoyable while handling seals.

Ring Notebook Binding Machine
Customers can create wire ring-bound notebooks using purchased or brought-in paper.
Notebooks can be bound on the spot, including memo pads and diaries, providing an opportunity to enjoy the pleasure of creating personalized items.

The shop plans to hold various workshops and participate in events using the above equipment to let people experience the joy of stationery, aiming to attract visitors not only from the local area but also from outside the prefecture.
