Two hotels in Hakone, Hakone Gora Karaku (箱根・強羅 佳ら久) and Hakone Ashinoko Hanaori (箱根・芦ノ湖 はなをり), will hold a guided viewing tour led by a Pola Museum of Art curator on the early morning of Sunday, December 13, 2026. The Pola Museum of Art (ポーラ美術館) will be specially opened to the tour group before it opens to the general public. In the quiet exhibition space, visitors can hear about the background of the works and the thinking behind the exhibition layout, and enjoy the new appeal of Claude Monet's works and contemporary art in more depth.

The tour is linked to the Pola Museum of Art's special exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of Claude Monet's death and the museum's 25th anniversary, The New Vision: Monet and the Contemporary Gaze (あたらしい目―モネと21世紀のアート). Karaku and Hanaori are selling the "Staying Overnight for Monet" stay plan (泊りがけでモネ 宿泊プラン), which includes admission to the Pola Museum of Art. Guests who stay on Saturday, December 12 with this plan can join the tour, with places for a total of 40 guests (the first 20 at each hotel). About the Pola Museum of Art and the Exhibition

Pola Museum of Art blending into the Hakone forest

The Pola Museum of Art stands as if blended into the Hakone forest.

The Pola Museum of Art is notable for its architecture, which respects Hakone's nature and scenery by keeping the height to 8 m above ground and placing much of the building underground. Its collection is wide-ranging, from Western painting centered on Impressionism to contemporary art, and visitors can see a variety of artworks in an environment filled with natural light.

Visitors can experience a creative dialogue from a new perspective.
