Five Artists Present Group Exhibition "Inheritance of Silence" at Re Gallery SCEARN in Omotesando from October 30

From Friday, October 30 to Sunday, November 15, 2026, Re Gallery SCEARN (リ ギャラリー セアン) in Omotesando, Tokyo, hosts "Inheritance of Silence" (余白の継承), a group exhibition by five artists from Japan and abroad. Curated by GALLERY ESCAPERS, the show brings together artists working with a range of materials, including glass, leather, wood and photography.

The venue, SCEARN AOYAMA, marks its first anniversary at the end of October. The exhibition takes as its starting point the venue's concept of "reinterpreting traditional Japanese beauty in a modern way." Visitors can see signs of nature in each work, the distinctive character of each material, traces of time, and the quiet beauty that handwork produces.

Under the title "Inheritance of Silence," the exhibition looks again, through a contemporary sensibility, at the aesthetic sensibilities that have been passed down. The works explore the rich relationships that arise between nature and people, and between materials and time, through the empty space and stillness found in the presence of each piece.

May Masutani is a glass artist born in Singapore and living in Toyama Prefecture. Her work focuses on what lies between humanity and the subconscious. Taking advantage of the properties of glass, she assembles fine parts through flameworking to create pieces with delicate structures. By joining transparent glass by hand, piece by piece, she makes visible the presence of unseen things, such as emotions, memories, and the relationships that arise between people and objects, through the overlap of lines, forms and light.
