"Gambling Apocalypse: KAIJI" Pop-Up Store Opens at Apita Matsusaka Mikumo, Mie, from July 24

A pop-up store based on the long-running gambling manga series will open at Apita Matsusaka Mikumo in Mie Prefecture from Friday, July 24 through Tuesday, August 11, 2026: the Hakaba Shōtenroku Kaiji POP UP STORE in Apita Matsusaka Mikumo, organized by CRAZY BUMP, a company that plans and runs subculture-themed exhibitions spanning manga, anime, and tokusatsu.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Gambling Apocalypse: KAIJI, Nobuyuki Fukumoto's landmark series, which began serialization in Weekly Young Magazine in 1996. Across three decades, its high-stakes gambling showdowns — bets weighing heavier than life itself — and the soul-baring quotes of characters sinking into the swamp of gambling addiction have moved readers deeply.

This pop-up centers on the series' most memorable scenes and the characters' iconic lines, offering an intense and satisfying look at what has kept readers hooked. Visitors can hold their breath at the instant a bet is decided and savor the lingering weight of defeat inside a space built to capture the extraordinary world of Kaiji — arriving in Mie Prefecture for the first time at the Hakaba no Garō Apita Matsusaka Mikumo Branch.

The store also releases a large batch of new original merchandise to mark the series' 30th anniversary, alongside past fan favorites. The lineup includes apparel staples such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, and caps, along with popular acrylic stands and acrylic keychains, plus a wide selection of can badges and stickers ideal for collecting.
