Reserved Viewing Seats Coming to the Kishiwada Danjiri Festival 2026 — Watch the "Yarimaawashi" Up Close

Reserved viewing seats are coming to the Kishiwada Danjiri Festival this autumn. TryHard Japan (based in Chuo-ku, Osaka) has announced the "Kishiwada Danjiri Festival Viewing Seat 2026," a special seating area to be set up during the three-day festival held on September 18 (Friday), 19 (Saturday), and 20 (Sunday), 2026, in Kishiwada City, Osaka Prefecture.

The Kishiwada Danjiri Festival has a history spanning more than 300 years and is known throughout Japan for its powerful float processions and the breathtaking "Yarimaawashi" — a maneuver in which massive danjiri floats are steered through sharp right-angle turns at full speed.

Special Seating for Comfortable Festival Viewing

The viewing seats are designed to let visitors enjoy the festival's energy and excitement from reserved, seated positions — no need to arrive early and stake out a spot in the crowd.

Whether you're visiting with family or traveling from far away, the seats offer a comfortable and safe way to take in the action. The setup is especially suited to those who want to soak in the heat of the festival while avoiding overcrowding.

Watch the "Yarimaawashi" Right in Front of You

From September 18 (Friday) through September 20 (Sunday), 2026, the viewing seats will be set up at mountain-side and sea-side venues facing the iconic "Kankan-ba" intersection — the very spot where the Yarimaawashi takes place.

The Yarimaawashi is widely regarded as the festival's greatest highlight: heavy danjiri floats charging at speed and pivoting sharply through a 90-degree turn. From the viewing seats, visitors can experience this thrilling moment right in front of their eyes, from the trial run (試験曳き) through to the main procession (本曳き).

Two venue options — mountain-side and sea-side — offer different angles on the action, letting visitors choose the perspective that suits them best.

About the Kishiwada Danjiri Festival

The Kishiwada Danjiri Festival traces its origins to 1703 (the 16th year of the Genroku era). Passed down for more than 300 years as a source of local pride, it now attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and is one of the most celebrated festivals in the Kansai region.

The dynamic float processions, heart-pounding Yarimaawashi, and the way the entire city transforms into a festival space make it an experience that simply cannot be replicated anywhere else. In recent years, the festival has drawn visitors from around Japan and abroad, gaining recognition as a symbol of Japanese festival culture.
