Little World Open-Air Folk Museum to Host Sky Lantern Event and Fireworks Show This Summer

リトルワールド (Little World Open-Air Folk Museum) in Inuyama City, Aichi, has announced the return of its popular "Sky Lantern" event, set to take place in the museum's European Area this summer. Following last year's run — which sold out across all four event days — the organizers have expanded the schedule for 2026 to welcome more visitors.

Pre-sale tickets go on sale from Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 2:30 PM via the dedicated booking page.

Sky Lantern Event

The sky lantern event is a participatory experience where all attendees release their lanterns into the night sky at the same moment. Inspired by traditional Asian lantern festivals such as Taiwan's Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival and Thailand's "コムローイ祭り" — where paper hot-air balloons lit by flames are released as a form of prayer — this event recreates that experience safely using LED sky lanterns.

A Five-Minute Spectacle to Close the Night

After the sky lanterns drift through the night sky, the evening continues with a fireworks show — 500 shells launched dynamically over approximately five minutes.

Against the backdrop of the European Area's scenic streetscape, the fireworks create a dramatic finale to the night.

Fireworks show time: 8:00 PM each evening (approximately 5 minutes)

Full details on the summer night admission hours and the fireworks show overall will be announced separately in early July.
