Naomi Shigeta Exhibition "intangible voice" Opens at arflex Nagoya, May 21–June 9

Contemporary artist Naomi Shigeta presents her solo exhibition "intangible voice" at arflex Nagoya from May 21 to June 9, 2026. The show is part of the ongoing "LIFE with ART project," a collaboration between furniture brand arflex and curation studio noie.cc, and brings together works spanning from past pieces to the artist's latest creations.

Shigeta's abstract paintings are marked by a distinctive sense of depth that draws viewers inward. Their quiet presence invites visitors to step back from the noise of daily life and turn attention toward their own inner world.

Artist's Statement

What am I looking at, and what am I feeling, in my everyday life?
Emotions and sensations that cannot be put into words, the submerged consciousness within the heart—I slowly trace these, placing the movements of body and mind onto a line.
The quietly layered, improvisational brushwork becomes a kind of tentative dialogue,
capturing the inner voice before it becomes language.
There, I encounter a voice within myself that I have yet to know.
