Hair Salon NYNY Turns Into a Theme Park for a Day This Summer, With Cosplay Hairstylists Welcoming Kids

NYNY Mothers Himeji-Minami, a hair salon in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, will hold its 17th Kids Festival on Monday, August 3, 2026.

On the day, hairstylists dressed in costume will greet children, and the salon will offer games and a balloon performance for parents and kids to enjoy together. For one day only, the salon transforms into a space reminiscent of a theme park. A reservation-only kids' cut, normally ¥3,850 (tax included), will also be offered for ¥500 (tax included).

NYNY Mothers is one of the brands under hair salon chain NYNY, offering a premium salon experience geared toward families — including those bringing children — alongside regular hair styling. Each location features a colorful kids' space with animal-themed cutting chairs, designed to be enjoyable for parents and children alike.

Wanting children to feel that "the salon is a fun place" and "somewhere I want to come back to," the salon created the Kids Festival. On the day, hairstylists dress up as characters to welcome children, and games and a balloon show create memories reminiscent of a theme park visit.

Held every year since it began in 2014, the festival now marks its 17th edition. It has grown into an annual event that deepens ties with the local community. After proving popular in Himeji, the event later expanded to the Kyoto area, where it is also held every year on Children's Day at NYNY's Katsura location.
