Starting June 18, 2026, Modern Toji Onlyyou — a day-trip hot spring set in a forest at roughly 250 meters above sea level in Minamiashigara, Kanagawa — is opening a barrel-shaped sauna exclusively for women in its outdoor bath area. Guests can enjoy self-löyly (pouring water over heated sauna stones to create steam) with aromatic water while listening to birdsong and the sound of a nearby stream, then unwind in the facility's signature 38°C lukewarm bath for a forest bathing-inspired outdoor relaxation experience.
Background: Why a "Forest Sauna" in the Women's Outdoor Bath?
Onlyyou has long centered its experience around the concept of "gentle, modern toji (therapeutic bathing)," offering a pH 9.5 alkaline spring known as a beauty-enhancing hot spring, 38°C lukewarm baths, and a setting surrounded by deciduous forest. The facility has also been selected as a model site for Kanagawa Prefecture's disease prevention improvement initiative for the revitalization of the western region.
Following the growing popularity of sauna culture in recent years, a sauna was introduced to the men's outdoor bath area in December 2024. In response to requests from female guests who wanted to enjoy the unique natural sauna experience this forest setting can offer, a barrel sauna has now been added to the women's outdoor bath area as well.

The rounded barrel shape allows heat to circulate efficiently throughout the interior.
