The outdoor brand Salomon is hosting the "Mt.FUJI Hiking Campaign," giving S/PLUS members who purchase eligible products a chance to win a special 2-night 3-day guided hiking tour. The tour traces the historic "Fujimichi" — the ancient pilgrimage route once walked by devout followers of Mt. Fuji mountain worship — from Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine in Fujiyoshida City all the way to the mountain's summit.
The "Fujimichi" stretches from Otsuki City in Yamanashi Prefecture and connects through the Yoshidaguchi Trail to the summit of Mt. Fuji. For centuries, this route was considered a sacred path, and the campaign offers a rare chance to experience this historical trail from the 0th station to the peak.

Hiking Tour Details
The tour begins at Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine in Fujiyoshida City and follows the Yoshidaguchi Trail to the summit of Mt. Fuji. Day 1 focuses on exploring Fujiyoshida City and learning about the history of the Fujimichi and the Fuji-ko mountain worship tradition. From Day 2 onward, participants undertake a high-altitude ascent including a night stay at a mountain hut, climbing from the 0th station to the summit — a route that spans over 3,000 meters in elevation and requires considerable stamina and experience.
Tour Dates (2-Night 3-Day):
- 1st Tour: July 24, 2026 (Friday) to July 26, 2026 (Sunday)
- 2nd Tour: August 28, 2026 (Friday) to August 30, 2026 (Sunday)
Participants per Tour: 10 people
Participation Fee: Free (participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the tour)

Hike
The route from Umakaehi to the 7th station and then on to the summit demands serious mountain experience and physical endurance due to the significant elevation gain and long hours of walking. The trail transitions from forested paths to steep rocky sections, with constantly shifting temperatures and trail conditions. After reaching the summit, participants descend the long stretch back to the 5th station — making for a true high-altitude mountaineering experience. Expert mountain guides accompany the group throughout to manage safety and set the pace for each participant.

Learn
Starting from Fujisan Station, participants walk the streets of Fujiyoshida along the Fujimichi, learning about the history of the Fuji-ko pilgrimage tradition and mountain worship. The tour includes visits to Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine and the homes of Oshi (inn-keepers who guided pilgrims), offering a glimpse into the mindset of those who once sought the mountain. From Day 2, participants walk the actual Fujimichi route, connecting the history they've learned with the landscape around them as they head toward the summit.

Experience
A special dinner using ingredients from the Mt. Fuji foothills is prepared for the first evening. Participants review the itinerary and gear with their mountain guides while preparing mentally and physically for the climb ahead. The first night is spent at an Oshi inn — a historic lodging that once welcomed Fuji-ko pilgrims — where the atmosphere of Mt. Fuji's mountain worship culture comes alive. The second night is at a mountain hut at the 7th station, where participants take in the sweeping views of city lights far below, along with the temperatures, winds, and starry skies unique to high altitude.

Fujimichi Handout Map
A special "Fujimichi" map, supervised by Fujiyoshida City, is being distributed free of charge at participating campaign stores. The original hiking map focuses on the Yoshidaguchi Trail starting from Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine. The reverse side features information on the history of the Fujimichi, notable points along the trail, and historical landmarks within Fujiyoshida City.

Mt.FUJI Re-Style Project Special Website
The campaign is part of the "Mt.FUJI Re-Style Project," a joint initiative between Salomon and Fujiyoshida City to rediscover and share the natural and cultural heritage of Mt. Fuji and its surrounding area. Two related articles are available on the project's special site:
The Importance of Layering for Mt. Fuji Hiking
Mt. Fuji is said to span temperature zones from summer to winter in a single ascent, making layering essential. This content, supervised by a mountain guide, introduces the importance of layering and specific examples for different stages of the climb.
