15% Higher Encounter Rate With the Supernatural Than the Original Senritsu Meikyu MEI

Built on the story and world of "Senritsu Meikyu – Byoto ni Ugomeku Yami" ("Maze of Terror – The Ward Where Darkness Writhes"), one of Japan's leading horror attractions located at Fuji-Q Highland, this fully original story depicts the hidden side and another story of Senritsu Meikyu. The rate of encountering supernatural phenomena is 15% higher than in the original Senritsu Meikyu MEI. The VR maze spans 8 floors and roughly 1 kilometer in total length. Visitors can take photos and selfies within the virtual space, capturing the apparitions and Sadako they encounter and sharing their "investigation reports" on social media.

Story of Senritsu Meikyu MEI: Paranormal Awakening – Sadako Special Investigation
In the summer of 2025, a VR attraction at Tokyo Tower turned into a Senritsu Meikyu-like space, recorded by the private organization Kaii Countermeasures Office, which investigates supernatural incidents. Even with the cooperation of more than 20,000 investigators, the mystery was never solved.
The VR goggles that had become the Senritsu Meikyu spread nationwide, exactly as a missing medium had predicted. As investigators repeated their observations and records, the supernatural phenomena grew more active, continuing to amplify by feeding on people's fear.
In 2026 —
The accumulated curse finally reaches its critical point.
As a result, an anomalous record that should never exist in this place has been confirmed.
Investigation reports have begun repeatedly recording the presence of a woman with long hair.
Senritsu Meikyu MEI has begun to encroach upon that woman's curse.

About Senritsu Meikyu

"Senritsu Meikyu" at Fuji-Q Highland is one of Japan's leading horror attractions, spanning 900 meters and taking about 50 minutes to complete. Since opening in 2003, it has plunged 5.3 million visitors into the depths of fear.
About Sadako
Sadako is a vengeful spirit born from Koji Suzuki's novel "Ring" (1991), which depicted the terror of a cursed videotape that causes anyone who watches it to die within a set period of time. In the live-action film adaptation "Ring" (1998), the climactic scene of her crawling out of a TV screen to bring death to those under her curse made a huge impact on Japan at the turn of the century, turning her into a widely recognized figure overnight. Through the cursed videotape, she spreads a curse that kills anyone who watches it. Her signature look is a white dress paired with long black hair covering her face, and she is known for emerging from wells and television screens. The "Ring" series has even been remade in Hollywood, and Sadako remains a globally recognized horror icon with high name recognition across generations, both in Japan and abroad.
The Patented Technology Behind an Experience That Goes Beyond Reality
Senritsu Meikyu MEI runs on Scape®, ABAL's proprietary location-based XR platform built on a total of 18 patents. Its key feature is the ability to expand a limited real-world space into a virtually unlimited one, which is what makes the maze-like experience possible. A small physical area is transformed into a virtual space of more than 500 square meters, one of the largest of its kind.
Within the experience, visitors can freely walk around the expanded virtual space on foot, record photos and videos of their experience in real time inside VR, and instantly share the downloaded photos and videos on social media once the experience ends.
