The Settsu-kyo Sakura Festival (摂津峡さくら祭り) will be held at the cherry blossom square in Settsu-kyo Park, Takatsuki City, from Saturday, March 28 to Sunday, April 12, 2026. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the event period, cherry blossom illuminations will light up the grounds from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, creating an enchanting atmosphere.
Settsu-kyo is one of the most celebrated cherry blossom destinations in the Hokusetsu (northern Osaka) region, home to approximately 3,000 cherry trees including the beloved Somei Yoshino variety. Every spring, the entire park transforms into soft shades of pink, drawing large crowds of visitors.
During the daytime, visitors can enjoy the vibrant cherry blossoms against a clear blue sky. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, illuminations bathe the trees in light from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, casting a magical glow throughout the park that offers a completely different ambiance compared to the daytime scenery.
The area surrounding the park also features nature-rich hiking courses, the ruins of Akutagawa Castle — once the stronghold of Miyoshi Nagayoshi — as well as hot spring inns offering dining and bathing. These additional attractions make it easy to combine cherry blossom viewing with history and sightseeing.
