Shirasagi no Yu Noto Kaishu to Reopen on July 16, 2026

Shirasagi no Yu Noto Kaishu, a hot spring resort located in Wakura Onsen, Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture, will reopen on Thursday, July 16, 2026. The hotel had been closed since the Noto Peninsula Earthquake struck on January 1, 2024. As recovery and reconstruction efforts continue in the Wakura Onsen area, the hotel has completed safety inspections and readied its facilities to welcome guests once again. Reservations are now being accepted through the official website and various booking platforms.

Wakura Onsen Today

Recovery and reconstruction efforts are continuing in the Wakura Onsen area, alongside moves toward "creative reconstruction" with an eye toward the future. In the surrounding area, Notojima Aquarium has resumed operations, and venues such as Wakura Onsen Soyu (public bath), Wakura Onsen Festival Hall, and local restaurants have also reopened, gradually restoring opportunities to enjoy Noto's food, culture, and hot springs.

The region views visitor traffic and exchange as a key driver of local revitalization, and tourism is seen as an important part of the recovery effort. The hotel's reopening is part of this broader movement.

Preparing to Reopen

Although some facilities sustained damage in the earthquake, the hotel has carried out repairs and worked to prepare for welcoming guests. Seawall construction is still ongoing in the surrounding area, but staff are working to ensure a safe and comfortable stay for visitors.

"The Journey of Recovery" Photo Exhibition in the Lobby

Upon reopening, the first-floor lobby will feature a photo exhibition produced in collaboration with the Ishikawa Prefecture-operated "2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake Archive." The space invites guests to witness the path Noto has taken in its recovery and to see where the region stands today.

A Look at the Hotel's Current State

The beautiful scenery of Nanao Bay and Notojima remains unchanged from the hotel. Guests can also observe the seawall construction work underway nearby, offering a close-up view of Noto's ongoing recovery.

Message from the Manager

Since the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, the hotel has been closed for an extended period. Throughout that time, the team has received tremendous warmth, support, and encouragement from many guests, for which they are deeply grateful. The preparations to reopen have served as a reminder of just how much the Wakura Onsen and Noto region has to offer, and of the importance of connections between people. Recovery efforts in the area are still underway, but staff are fully committed to providing guests with a comfortable and relaxing stay. The team looks forward to welcoming everyone back and hopes guests will use the hotel as a base for exploring the streets of Wakura Onsen and discovering the food, culture, and hot springs that make Noto so special.
