Shuri Castle Park Special Opening for New Year 2025-2026 – Completed Exterior of Main Hall Viewable from the Front

Shuri Castle Park will open a special area of the construction site, which is normally off-limits, for nine days from December 27, 2025, to January 4, 2026.

This special opening coincides with the first New Year celebration since the completion of the main hall's exterior work.

Visitors will be able to view the freshly lacquered, glossy exterior of the main hall from the front.

Special Opening Details

  • Period: December 27, 2025 (Sat) to January 4, 2026 (Sun)
  • Hours: 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM ※January 1 (Thu, Holiday) to 3 (Sat): 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
  • Location: Part of the Una (courtyard between Hōshinmon Gate and the Main Hall) at Shuri Castle Park
  • Fee: Viewable with paid area admission ticket

Important Notes

  • The opening area, schedule, or special viewing may be changed, paused, or canceled due to weather or crowd conditions.
  • As this is a construction area, there are steps and gaps on the ground. Please exercise caution.
  • Visitors using wheelchairs will view from the Hōshinmon Gate platform.
  • Protective netting and other materials are installed to protect the main hall's exterior.
  • Entry to areas other than the designated open courtyard area or the main hall interior is not permitted.

Related Information – January 1 to 3, 2026

The New Year festival "New Year's Banquet" will be held. Additionally, admission fee discounts will be offered to Okinawa residents.

※Adults ¥400 → ¥320, Junior (high school students) ¥300 → ¥240, Children (elementary and junior high school students) ¥160 → ¥120

※Okinawa residents aged 70 and above and preschool children are always admitted free of charge.

About Shuri Castle Park

Shuri Castle is the very essence of the Ryukyu Kingdom's history, which flourished for approximately 450 years from 1429 to 1879.
