10th Anniversary Special Project: Traditional Japanese Good-Luck Charm "Manegi" (招木) Makes Its Debut

Support your favorite celebrity through a uniquely Japanese culture of cheering. Applications opened on October 29.

A "Manegi" (招木) inscribed with your name and a message of support for an international celebrity will be displayed at the Tokyo Comic Con 2026 venue. If you also apply for return shipping, the Manegi will be delivered to your home after the event ends. Among those who apply for return shipping, winners drawn by lottery will receive celebrity-autographed goods. People who could not get tickets or who live too far away to visit can also take part in Tokyo Comic Con by sending a message from home.

What is a Manegi?

The name "Manegi" is an ateji (a kanji spelling chosen for its sound) for 招き (maneki, "to invite"), and it is a good-luck charm that invites people and good fortune. Its origins are said to go back to the Edo period. At merchants' shops and teahouses, wooden tags bearing the shop's name, given by regular customers, were lined up at the storefront as a sign of a thriving business. In recent years it has also been spreading as a new way to support one's favorite ("oshi-katsu").

Overview

  • Material: Single board of hinoki (Japanese cypress)
  • Price: ¥9,900 (tax included). Return shipping, if requested, costs an additional ¥800 (tax included).
  • Double chance: By lottery, celebrity-autographed goods are delivered together with the Manegi.
