Towada City's summer sky is set to fill with color as the Towada Summer Festival Fireworks Display marks its 69th year in 2026. About 2,500 fireworks will launch starting at 7:10 PM on Friday, August 14, from the Central Park Green Space and athletics stadium in the heart of Towada City.
Viewing seats are set up on the west side of the athletics stadium, and part of Towada City Government Street — recognized as one of Japan's Top 100 Roads — also serves as a viewing spot. The event is known for being easy to access and for offering an up-close view of the large fireworks. A designated stretch of Government Street becomes a pedestrian-only zone for the evening, lined with food stalls, letting visitors enjoy festival food while strolling past the art installations scattered around the city before settling in for one of Aomori Prefecture's more storied fireworks displays.
For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of the fireworks will begin at 7:00 PM on the day of the event, letting viewers near and far watch the fireworks brighten the night sky of "Art Town" Towada from a computer or smartphone.
