YADOKARI Inc. is holding "YADOKARI VILLAGE TOUR Vol.3," a 2-night, 3-day experiential monitor tour based at YADOKARI VILLAGE Kita-Karuizawa, a tiny house lodging facility at the foot of Mt. Asama, where guests connect with the farming, food, and nature of Tsumagoi Village.
The tour includes a harvesting experience in a cabbage field that spreads out in every direction, a ride-along on the kind of farm work vehicle local growers use every day, an evening of fire and stargazing with a local guide, and a dinner built around Tsumagoi Village's highland vegetables.
Starting July 22 (Wednesday), 2026, YADOKARI is recruiting monitor participants for this 2-night, 3-day stay -- a chance to experience a corner of daily life found only in this place, together with family or someone special, alongside time spent simply as oneself. Applications are limited to four groups and open from July 22 to August 24, 2026.
About the YADOKARI VILLAGE Tour
VILLAGE TOUR is a lodging tour that lets guests stand in the fields, gather around the table or the fire, and get a feel for the everyday rhythms of a place, together with the people who live there.
Rather than simply visiting a list of tourist spots, guests come to know a place through the words and outlook of the people who live there, sharing time with others who happen to be gathered in the same place. Each tour takes on its own shape, shaped by the mood of the moment and the people who come together.
Meant as a narrative tour, it gives guests a chance to see a new side of the people close to them -- and of themselves -- and to carry what they discover back into everyday life.

Main experiences: Based at the tiny house lodging YADOKARI VILLAGE Kita-Karuizawa, guests spend two nights and three days connecting with the farming and daily life of Tsumagoi Village. On the first day, children build their own campfire while adults share a quiet conversation and stargazing. On the second day, guests harvest and pack cabbage and ride along on a large farm work vehicle. In the evening, participants make original hamburgers based on a theme drawn for each family, then share a long table with fellow guests and local residents.

- Cabin preference is taken at the time of application and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Only dinner on Day 2 is included; drinks and s'mores are provided at the Day 1 welcome gathering.
- Transportation to and from the venue is each participant's own responsibility.
- Applicants must hold a valid regular driver's license and be able to arrange their own car or a rental car.
- Guests wishing to bring a dog should note this on the application form.
- If applications exceed capacity, participants will be chosen by lottery.
- In the event of cancellation due to a natural disaster or road closure, a full refund will be provided.

Day 1 -- September 5 (Saturday): Arriving at the Foot of Mt. Asama, an Evening by the Fire
3:00 PM to 7:00 PM: Check-in, free time
7:30 PM to 9:00 PM: Welcome gathering -- fire-building experience, orientation, stargazing
With birch bark and pinecones in hand, children tend a small fire of their own, while nearby the adults share a quiet conversation over cards and original drinks. Everyone then gathers back around the fire to hear about the stars while making s'mores over coffee or cocoa.
Day 2 -- September 6 (Sunday): Into the 360° Cabbage Field, From Harvest to the Table
Until 2:00 PM: Free time around the property or the Kita-Karuizawa area
2:00 PM: Depart YADOKARI VILLAGE Kita-Karuizawa
2:30 PM: Aisai-no-Oka Hill -- stretching and an introduction to the area
3:00 PM: Move to the cabbage field
3:30 PM: Cabbage harvesting and packing, ride-along on a farm work vehicle
4:30 PM: Return to YADOKARI VILLAGE Kita-Karuizawa, short break
6:00 PM: VILLAGE LONG TABLE -- dinner featuring highland vegetables, hamburger-making
A single long table is carried in for the day at YADOKARI VILLAGE, a lodging that otherwise welcomes guests without staff on-site. Adults and children mix together, making original hamburgers from the cabbage and highland vegetables harvested earlier, based on a theme drawn by each family. Guests then bring their finished plates to the long table, sitting alongside family, fellow travelers, and local residents -- each at their own distance, sharing the same evening in a place where ties beyond blood have long been valued.
Day 3 -- September 7 (Monday): Taking the Scenery Home

Vol.1 brought guests into a sweeping cabbage field for a day of encounters with the land, its people, and themselves, while Vol.2, held in autumn in the Karuizawa area, centered on "eating the region" through its food.
September in Kita-Karuizawa brings deep greenery and a cool evening breeze. Standing in the cabbage field, gathering around the fire, and eating what they've harvested themselves, participants may find new sides of the people close to them -- and of themselves -- coming into view, together with the people who live here and the fellow travelers who join them.
