Ashikaga Flower Park Great Wisteria Festival - Japan's Premier Wisteria Experience

Nature & Seasonal
Tochigi / April

About This Event

Ashikaga Flower Park in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, is one of the Kanto region's premier flower destinations, known for its over 350 wisteria trees. The park's greatest attraction is the magnificent wisteria trellis grove, centered around the "Miraculous Great Wisteria" trees that are over 160 years old, which achieved their current splendor through extensive transplanting operations during the park's relocation in the 1990s. The annual "Great Wisteria Festival" held from mid-April to mid-May showcases a spectacular succession of four wisteria colors - pale pink, purple, white, and yellow - blooming in stages like a floral relay that can be enjoyed over an extended period. The park features an abundance of three-dimensional viewing spots, including overhead wisteria canopies, 80-meter-long white and yellow wisteria tunnels, and enchanting reflections in the mirror pond. Visitors can experience different atmospheres throughout the day, from the natural beauty during daylight hours to the mystical ambiance created by nighttime illumination. With excellent accessibility just within walking distance from JR Ashikaga Flower Park Station, the location is ideal for full-day sightseeing when combined with historical attractions such as Ashikaga School and Banna-ji Temple.
