The Osaka Marathon is a large-scale public marathon event that was launched in 2011. The urban course is characterized by starting from the front of Osaka Prefectural Government Office and passing through Osaka's representative tourist attractions including Midosuji, Namba, Kyocera Dome, The Mint, Abeno Harukas, Shitennoji Temple, and Osaka Business Park, before finishing at the historic Osaka Castle Park.
While being a World Athletics-certified full marathon course, it features a 7-hour time limit that allows runners of all levels to participate. Under the slogan "Creating Rainbows Together," a charity culture has taken root where running contributes to social causes, with many runners supporting various organizations and activities.
Every year, more than 30,000 domestic and international runners participate, and the entire city of Osaka comes together to support the marathon, making it a beloved major event that energizes the whole community.
