Summary
This time, we went on a 2-day/1-night trip to Miyajima, one of Hiroshima Prefecture’s most popular tourist destinations.
In addition to the symbol of Miyajima, Itsukushima Shrine, visitors can enjoy oysters, fried momiji manju buns, and other delicacies.

Itinerary (Day 1)
10:00am Miyajima-guchi(宮島口)
It was just renewed in 2022.
From here, take the ferry to Miyajima!

Itsukushima Port (Miyajima)- 厳島港(宮島)
Arrival at Miyajima! Itsukushima Port is the gateway to Miyajima.

We are now going up to Mt. Misen, but we will leave our luggage at the hotel first.

Momiji Bridge(紅葉橋)
We left our luggage at the hotel and headed immediately for Momijidani Park.
This is the entrance to Maple Valley Park.

This park is located on the way to Yamamura Chaya.
It is said that the autumn leaves are beautiful in fall.

11:00am Yamamura Chaya(山村茶屋)
For lunch, we went to a restaurant in the park.
The restaurant has the atmosphere of a tea house, and the menu is extensive.

The anago donburi, which I ate with a very hungry stomach, was the most delicious. It was also a perfect match with the soup!

With our stomachs full, we will take the ropeway up to Mt Misen.

Shishiiwa Station(獅子岩駅)
I’ll get off at Shishiiwa station. The air is nice and clean!
It takes about 1.5 hours to climb to the top of Mt Misen.

The station also has coin lockers and a rest area, and is visited by many people equipped for mountain climbing.
Shishiiwa Observatory(獅子岩展望台)
We planned to go up to the summit, but there was still snow on the ground and it was dangerous, so this time we went up to the Shishiiwa Observatory.
Although I was not able to climb the mountain, I was able to enjoy the snowy scenery, which was a valuable experience!

5:30pm Shimai-meshi enishi(島飯 縁)
For dinner, we went to an oyster and conger eel restaurant on the island of Miyajima, close to the hotel.
We enjoyed the local delicacies of Miyajima! I am full and happy.

11:30am Yakigaki no Hayashi(焼がきのはやし)
The last stop is Miyajima’s gourmet food!
First, go to a restaurant where you can enjoy fresh oysters from Hiroshima.

Momiji-do Main Store(紅葉堂本店)
Another store to visit on Miyajima is a long-established momiji manju (A type of baked manju shaped like a maple leaf, a specialty of Itsukushima, Hiroshima Prefecture) shop.
It also makes a great souvenir!

1:30pm Itsukushima Port (Miyajima) – 厳島港(宮島)
Take a ferry from Itsukushima Port to return home.
I was healed by Miyajima for two days, wasn’t I? I would like to visit again, this time in a different season!
