Aperol Refreshes Its Iconic Bottle Design for the First Time

Aperol, the vibrant orange Italian aperitivo liqueur that has become synonymous with the Aperol Spritz, is getting a new look. The brand is updating its bottle design for the Japanese market starting late May 2026, with the rollout at bars, restaurants, and retail stores happening gradually from that point forward.

A More Refined, Modern Silhouette

Born in 1919 in Padua, Italy, Aperol has grown into a global symbol of aperitivo culture. The redesign keeps the brand's signature vivid orange at the center while blending Italian elegance with a contemporary aesthetic.

Key design changes include:

  • Ripple design on the bottle shoulder — Catches the light to make Aperol's glowing orange color appear more three-dimensional.
  • Slimmer, more refined silhouette — Inspired by the balance and proportions of Italian architecture, shaped to sit comfortably in the hand.
  • Smaller front label — Puts the liquid color itself front and center, letting Aperol's signature orange speak for itself.
  • Aperol Spritz recipe on the back label — A handy guide for making the classic cocktail at home or at the bar.

Heritage Details

The redesign also pays tribute to Aperol's origins. The monogram of the Barbieri brothers — the inventors of Aperol — is embossed on the bottle, a nod to the brand's century-long history and craftsmanship.

Importantly, the liquid inside remains unchanged. The proprietary recipe that has been kept since the brand's founding has not been altered; only the bottle's exterior has been updated.

Rollout in Japan

The new-look bottles began appearing at bars, restaurants, and retail outlets across Japan from late May 2026 onwards. Availability may vary depending on stock transitions.
