ASAMA KUZANBO (あさま空山望), a private all-villa resort in Kita-Karuizawa, Gunma, is holding a special seasonal event called the "Forest Wine Terrace" (森のワインテラス) at its on-site restaurant Tenku Da-ining (天空柁イニング). The event runs on four days in July 2026 as part of the resort's 5th anniversary celebrations.
A Premium Wine Terrace at 1,100 m
The event sets up a dedicated counter on the outdoor terrace of Tenku Da-ining, perched at 1,100 m above sea level with sweeping views of Mt. Asama. Guests can enjoy a curated selection of wines from around the world alongside premium non-alcoholic sparkling options, all poured using a newly introduced smart wine server that keeps each bottle at ideal serving condition.
The breezy highland air and the open terrace scenery offer a relaxed summer retreat, with the event open not only to overnight villa guests but also to day visitors — and dogs are welcome throughout.
Two Different Moods Across the Weekend
The event takes place across both Saturday and Sunday, each with its own distinct atmosphere.
On Saturday evenings, the terrace becomes a pre-dinner aperitif setting. Guests can unwind with a glass of wine or non-alcoholic wine while the sun sets over Mt. Asama, turning the sky amber in the late afternoon.
On Sunday lunchtimes, a more relaxed daytime mood takes over: chilled wines and sparkling drinks set against a blue-sky backdrop, with the greenery of Kita-Karuizawa stretching out behind the mountain. It's a laid-back highland brunch atmosphere suited for families and dog owners alike.
Wines from Switzerland, France, New Zealand, and Beyond

The wine lineup features producers and regions not commonly seen in Japan. Highlights include a rare Swiss wine, a Riesling from France's Alsace region, locally sourced wines, and premium bottles from New Zealand's 「シャトー・ワイマラマ」 (Château Waimārama). Bottles are selected to showcase a range of styles and aromas, from bold reds to crisp whites and sparkling varieties.
Non-Alcoholic Options for Drivers and Non-Drinkers
For guests who are driving or prefer not to drink alcohol, the menu includes a premium non-alcoholic wine option. The featured bottle is "Pierre Zéro Blanc de Blancs" (ピエール・ゼロ ブラン・ド・ブラン), a dry non-alcoholic sparkling praised by wine enthusiasts for its fine bubbles and clean finish. It's served at the same terrace setting with the same view, so no one has to miss out.
Dog-Friendly Photo Spot with Mt. Asama as the Backdrop

ASAMA KUZANBO is known for its dog-friendly atmosphere, and that extends to the Tenku Da-ining terrace. A special photo corner is set up with Mt. Asama and the Kita-Karuizawa forest as the backdrop — a great spot for capturing memories with a four-legged companion in the cool highland breeze.
