Tsumagoi Prince Hotel Launches Summer Highland Brunch with Sparkling Wine

Tsumagoi Prince Hotel (Tsumagoi Village, Gunma Prefecture; General Manager: Akihiro Funayama), a secluded highland resort at 1,100 m altitude, is selling a "Sparkling Wine × Brunch" plan from July 18 (Saturday) to September 18 (Friday), 2026. The plan is designed around Gunma Prefecture's "Retreat Gunma" initiative — framing a stay as time for recovery rather than consumption. Guests dine on a terrace overlooking sweeping mountain scenery, wrapped in the crisp highland air, while enjoying the shimmer of sparkling wine alongside a leisurely brunch.

Cool Highland Air at 1,100 m

In a summer when the Japan Meteorological Agency added a new "extreme heat day" category for temperatures exceeding 40°C, Gunma Prefecture is well known for its hot summers. The average daily high in Maebashi, the prefectural capital, ran around 34°C from July through September last year. At Tsumagoi Prince Hotel, the average daily high over the same period was approximately 26°C — a difference of nearly 8°C. The altitude keeps both temperature and humidity in a range suited to beating the heat, and the area has been introduced as an even better summer retreat than Karuizawa. Rather than simply serving a meal, the plan aims to deliver an experience where scenery, temperature, fragrance, and flavour come together in a way that stays with visitors long after they leave.
