A new private rental villa, "CHILLYU" (ちりゅ), is opening in the Izu Kogen area of Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture, on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Operated by Izukyu Community Co., Ltd. (株式会社伊豆急コミュニティー), the villa was created on a revitalized vacant lot and welcomes just one group of up to six guests per day. Its concept is an experience of letting body and mind unwind together with the blessings of Izu's abundant hot springs, so that the stay itself becomes the purpose of the trip.

The Name Behind CHILLYU
The name CHILLYU is a coined word that layers "CHILL," which evokes a relaxed state of mind, with "YU" (湯), a hallmark of Japan's hot spring bathing culture.
Set on a quiet property about a 7-minute drive from Izu Kogen Station, this one-building rental makes the most of the operator's hot spring supply business, and its biggest draw is three free-flowing hot spring baths. On the terrace there is a swimsuit-friendly "Terrace Bath" along with a barrel sauna, and the villa is also fully equipped with a private "indoor bath" and "open-air bath," creating a refined relaxation space for restoring body and mind while taking in Izu's nature.
The villa is laid out as two separate structures: a "Living Building" for enjoying time with family and friends, and a "Relaxation Building" for quiet downtime.
The Living Building, defined by its high ceilings, comes with a well-equipped kitchen stocked with appliances and cookware as well as a large-screen projector, creating an open, airy space for leisurely meals and gatherings.

The Relaxation Building offers a bedroom for restful time along with the private indoor bath and open-air bath. The hot spring water is weakly alkaline and has earned the POLA 美肌温泉認証 (メルティング浄化温泉) — a POLA "beautiful-skin onsen" certification — giving it a smooth, skin-friendly quality.

The terrace linking the two buildings extends the stay outdoors, offering a space to enjoy Izu's distinctive scenery and fresh air with all five senses.
Rather than serving dinner and breakfast at fixed times, CHILLYU proposes a free-form style of stay that lets each guest keep their own rhythm. As part of this hospitality, a welcome service is prepared so guests can enjoy special moments from the moment they arrive.
On offer are one pound of Shizuoka-raised beef and a freshly baked baguette, along with three kinds of wine (red, white, and sparkling), sparkling juice, and mineral water to keep guests refreshed as they make the most of the sauna and hot springs.

Sharing a meal with the people who matter, raising a glass, and easing body and mind in the baths and sauna: wrapped in Izu's rich natural surroundings, guests can enjoy free, refined time spent at their own pace.
Revitalizing the Region by Reusing Idle Real Estate
The operator positions this project not as a mere lodging facility but as a new business model for raising the value of idle real estate such as vacant lots and empty houses. By reusing the idle assets that grow with population decline and aging as "local resources," the company aims to enhance the appeal of its residential developments and the value of the surrounding area.
CHILLYU is positioned as a model case that creates new value for stays by drawing fully on Izu Kogen's local resources — its nature, hot springs, and scenery — together with services from local businesses, contributing to the appeal of the region as a whole and not just to the profitability of the lodging business.
