A new concept store bringing together DJI, a maker of consumer drones and camera technology, and the Swedish premium camera brand Hasselblad (ハッセルブラッド), known for medium format cameras and with more than 180 years of history, is scheduled to open in Tokyo's Omotesando area on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The store, "DJI | Hasselblad Authorized Concept Store Tokyo Omotesando" (DJI | Hasselblad Authorized Concept Store 東京表参道), is being opened by Sekido Co., Ltd. (株式会社セキド), DJI's authorized distributor in Japan, and lets visitors experience the worlds of both brands.
The store spans two floors, the first and second floors above ground, and gathers imaging products from DJI's latest drones, handheld gimbals, and action cameras to Hasselblad's flagship medium format digital camera systems. An indoor drone flight cage is permanently installed, so visitors can try flying and operating a drone themselves. One-on-one personal consultations with specialist staff and support in Japanese, English, and Chinese are also available for creators from Japan and abroad.
Background: Meeting the Demand for Hands-On Experience and Expert Advice
In Japan, DJI products are being used more and more widely, from aerial photography, film and commercial production, and photography to industrial uses such as surveying and inspection.
As demand for high-performance filming equipment for creators has grown, many customers have said they want to check the feel of operation, the image quality, and the grip before buying, and want to consult professionals about the best equipment for their projects and shooting locations. For advanced equipment such as drones in particular, it is important to confirm intuitive handling and the shooting feel, which are hard to convey through spec sheets or online information alone.
In response, it was decided to open in Omotesando, a source of trends and culture in Tokyo, as a permanent flagship base that combines product experience, expert consulting, and a feel for the brands' worlds, which online sales and short-term events cannot fully cover. The store aims to be a creative community open to all creators, from top creators in Japan and abroad to beginners who are about to start serious work.
Four Highlights of the Store
1. Two Brands in One Concept Store
DJI develops innovative filming technology, and Hasselblad has supported photographic expression with its long-established medium format cameras. The craftsmanship and latest technology of both brands come together in this new combined official store. The lineup supports a wide range of creative work, from still images to video and from the ground to the sky.
2. Hands-On Product Experience with a Permanent Indoor Drone Flight Cage
A dedicated "drone flight cage" where visitors can safely fly and operate drones is permanently installed on the first floor. Without worrying about the weather or flight-restricted areas, visitors can directly experience the hovering stability, camera operation, and control response of the latest drones on the spot. Handheld cameras and gimbals from the Osmo series, including the latest Osmo 360 II and Osmo Pocket 4P, and the Hasselblad medium format cameras on the second floor are displayed powered on, so visitors can pick them up freely and try shooting.
3. One-on-One Personal Support from Dedicated Specialists
Specialist staff with knowledge of the products and know-how from shooting sites are on hand. They suggest the best equipment setup and accessories to match each customer's shooting style, use, and reason for introducing equipment in a business. Beyond product comparison, they answer questions before and after purchase one-on-one, from lessons on initial setup to consultations after starting to use the equipment.
4. Support in Japanese, English, and Chinese for Inbound Visitors
Reflecting the international character of the Omotesando location, staff serve customers in Japanese, English, and Chinese. The store is set up so that tourists from overseas and visitors in Japan on business can try and buy high-end equipment and complete duty-free procedures without feeling a language barrier.
