First Cabin Akihabara to Reopen on June 1, 2026 After Five-Year Closure

First Cabin Akihabara — formerly operating as First Cabin Akihabara Showa-dori — is set to reopen on June 1, 2026. The compact cabin-style hotel, which closed in 2021, is returning with renovated facilities and a refreshed approach to guest services.

Background

The hotel had been popular with guests for its unique concept: sleeping cabins inspired by airplane first-class seats, offering a private yet compact stay experience. It was forced to close in 2021 due to the social environment at the time. During the closure, many guests reached out hoping for a comeback, and after facility renovations and service refinements, the hotel is now ready to open its doors again.

What's New

  • Cleaner, More Comfortable Spaces

The hotel used the closure period for partial facility upgrades along with thorough cleaning and maintenance, with cleanliness as a top priority.

  • Convenient Akihabara Base

Just a 5-minute walk from JR Akihabara Station (Showa-dori Exit), the location works well for business travelers, tourists, and those visiting for fan activities.

  • Expanded Coin Laundry

The number of coin laundry machines has grown from 2 to 5, cutting down wait times for guests on longer stays or quick stopovers.

  • Familiar Comforts Maintained

The large communal bath remains, as do gender-separated floors. A lounge area is also available for working or relaxing, supporting various stay needs beyond a simple overnight stay.

Grand Opening Special: 14-Night Stay Plan

To mark the reopening, a 14-night consecutive stay plan is being offered at a highly competitive rate. Available exclusively to members registered on the official website, the plan brings the monthly cost down to around ¥50,000 — positioning it as one of the most affordable options in the area.

Ideal for:

  1. Business professionals needing a base near their workplace
  2. Fans wanting to explore everything Akihabara has to offer
  3. Anyone looking for an easy entry into central Tokyo living
