Five new French wines, including the "Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2026," are arriving nationwide on Thursday, November 19, from Suntory.
Beaujolais Nouveau is a young wine made from grapes harvested that same year in the Beaujolais district of France's Burgundy region, an area known for its favorable climate for quality winemaking. Released every year on the third Thursday of November, it's enjoyed around the world as a taste of the new season.
Georges Duboeuf's Beaujolais Nouveau has won over wine lovers worldwide with its bright, charming aroma and flavor. At the Lyon Beaujolais Nouveau Wine Competition, it has taken an award every year since the first competition in 2002, earning recognition as France's most-awarded brand in the category (per Georges Duboeuf's own research based on official competition results from 2002 to 2025, including products not yet introduced in Japan). In Japan, it's also the top-selling Beaujolais Nouveau brand (per Intage SRI+ data, cumulative sales value from January 2022 to December 2025 across supermarkets, convenience stores, liquor retailers, home centers, drugstores, general liquor shops, and business-use liquor wholesalers nationwide), continuing to earn strong support from customers.
Suntory has proposed enjoying the yearly release of new wine with customers every year since partnering with Georges Duboeuf in 1996, marking the partnership's 30th anniversary this year. Hoping to keep giving customers a reason to spend time with friends and family around Beaujolais Nouveau, the company is releasing five wines this year, led by the "Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2026."
This year, all the products use a "nama" (unprocessed) style that skips the usual cooling step, preserving the grapes' natural aroma and umami for a fresher, fruitier taste. The lineup also continues last year's "art labels," designed by artists and illustrators. Hand-drawn illustrations evoke the warmth of hand-picked grapes, while colorful renderings of the flowers and creatures native to the Beaujolais district express the fruity, light character of the wine.
Prices remain unchanged from last year (open pricing; catalog prices have been held steady since last year), reflecting Suntory's wish to keep the Beaujolais Nouveau tradition accessible to as many customers as possible.
About the Products
Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2026
This wine carries on the blending philosophy of founder Georges Duboeuf and stands as the symbol of the Beaujolais Nouveau built around his name. Bursting with fruit and floral aromas, it delivers the light, fruity character that defines Beaujolais Nouveau. This year's bottle uses the "nama" style for an even fruitier taste, and its art label, featuring colorful flowers, butterflies, bees, and ladybugs, captures the natural richness of the Beaujolais vineyards to bring color to the table.
Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau 2026
A step up from the standard Beaujolais Nouveau, this wine uses grapes harvested in 2026 from the 38 villages of the northern Villages district, known for producing especially high-quality grapes. It offers a more concentrated fruitiness and a bouquet-like aroma, with a rich, smooth taste.
Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Rosé Nouveau 2026 Rousé
"Rousé" is a coined French term meaning "between rosé and red." Made using the saignée method, briefly macerating the grape skins in the juice, this dry rosé is full of rich berry fruitiness, with a rounded body and a pleasant touch of tannin and depth.
Georges Duboeuf Orange Nouveau 2026
An orange wine made by fermenting white grape skins and seeds together with the juice. Made from this year's harvest of white grapes for a vivid color, it offers a fresh, crisp taste with notes of juicy orange and white peach. (This wine doesn't use grapes from the Beaujolais district, so it isn't classified as a "Beaujolais Nouveau.")
Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau Sélection Plus 2026
Made only from "top cuvée" grapes that Georges Duboeuf selects as the year's best from around 3,000 growers across the Beaujolais-Villages district, this wine sits at the top of the Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais lineup, with a highly concentrated, deep flavor. The 2025 vintage won a Gold Medal (Médaille d'Or) at the official "Beaujolais Nouveau Lyon Cup 2025" competition.
