Hakone Hotel Kowakien (located in Ninoheiraichi 1297, Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun, Kanagawa) has introduced an autonomous delivery robot — the "Comsys Robotics Solution" developed by Comsys Information Systems Co., Ltd. — marking the first deployment of such a robot at Hakone Kowakien.
Hakone Hotel Kowakien opened in 2023 as a next-generation hotel, already equipped with an automated luggage storage system and self check-in/check-out machines. The newly introduced delivery robot is capable of autonomous navigation while avoiding obstacles, automatically boarding elevators, traveling all the way to the door of the guest room, and notifying guests of its arrival via the in-room telephone.
The robot features a wrap design of "Hakoneko Bozappy," the mascot character of the adjacent Hakone Kowakien Yunessun water park, making the experience fun for children and international guests alike. It delivers items such as children's amenities, samue (casual robes), towels, and more directly to rooms on behalf of staff.
The robot's rear signage panel also displays information about the hotel's facilities, as well as events at Yunessun and nearby attractions, serving as a mobile information guide for guests.
Going forward, the hotel plans to utilize camera-equipped delivery robots for patrolling the premises to further enhance service convenience. The long-term vision is to create a hotel where families can enjoy a blend of digital technology and entertainment.
