Samu, the Japanese-style café run by Watahan Mihara Shoten Co., Ltd. (Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture; President Tomohiro Kitazawa) under its Kochouan brand, known for treats like "Toroke Nama Daifuku," has begun selling two new items: Premium Kakigori "Rich Matcha" and Premium Kakigori "Blissful Strawberry."
The new lineup builds on Rich Matcha Kakigori, a popular summer item that has sold more than 9,000 servings to date, reimagined as an eye-catching "Premium Kakigori" that highlights the natural flavor of its ingredients.
Made with fluffy shimobashira (frost-pillar) shaved ice generously combined with soft-serve, mochi rice balls (shiratama), and sweet red bean paste (anko), it's a treat-yourself kakigori distinctly Kochouan's own.
Premium Kakigori "Rich Matcha"
This Premium Kakigori is generously topped with housemade matcha syrup made with Uji matcha, crafted for matcha lovers.
The matcha syrup balances rich aroma, gentle bitterness, and refined sweetness, clinging beautifully to the smooth, melt-in-the-mouth shaved ice. A layer of matcha soft-serve is hidden inside, so the rich matcha flavor deepens with every bite.
It's finished with yuki-shio (snow salt) anko, chewy shiratama rice dumplings, and candied chestnuts for flavors and textures unique to Japanese ingredients, then topped with smooth, velvety whipped cream that brings the whole dessert together for a satisfying finish.
Premium Kakigori "Blissful Strawberry"
This vividly colored Premium Kakigori is generously topped with an original sauce that blends strawberry and raspberry purees.
The gentle sweetness of strawberry and the refreshing tartness of raspberry come together perfectly, leaving a light aftertaste even in the summer heat. A layer of vanilla soft-serve is hidden inside the ice, paired with yuki-shio anko and chewy shiratama, blending Japanese and Western flavors into a luxurious dessert.
