Entertainment planetarium venue Konica Minolta Planetaria Tokyo in Yurakucho has decided to extend its currently running event, "Shigeru Mizuki's Yokai Summer Festival: 88 Mysterious Constellations," through September 27 (Sun), 2026, giving more visitors the chance to see it after a strong response from guests.
Beginning in September, sessions will also feature narration by the event's producer.
Tickets for the extension period, September 1 (Tue) through September 27 (Sun), 2026, go on sale online starting August 7 (Fri), 2026 at 3:00 PM.
A New Encounter with Shigeru Mizuki's Yokai This Summer
Held annually since 2023, "Starry Sky Summer Festival" has captivated many visitors over the years. This year's theme is the yokai of Shigeru Mizuki.
From GeGeGe no Kitaro onward, Shigeru Mizuki's yokai are familiar figures to people in Japan. Somehow humorous and endearing, these characters carry a charm that makes the distance between humans and yokai feel remarkably close, and now they are unleashed across the entire dome of the planetarium. Enjoy an immersive entertainment experience that is more than just a summer festival.
All 88 Constellations Transform Into Yokai — A Fantastical Experience Only a Planetarium Can Offer
This event is a walk-through experience with no fixed seating, letting visitors move freely around the dome as they encounter yokai. Over a roughly 30-minute looping projection, all 88 constellations transform into somewhat eerie yet endearing "yokai constellations," and special fireworks featuring yokai light up the night sky. Photography is allowed throughout, so visitors can take pictures with the yokai they discover. Enjoy this special summer-only experience where the line between reality and fantasy blurs.

Producer Narration Added to Sessions From September
Starting in September, sessions will include newly added narration from the event's producer, offering commentary on everything from well-known yokai to more obscure ones. Through the producer's voice, visitors can feel a deeper appreciation for yokai, adding another layer to this summer-only experience.
Within the roughly 30-minute looping projection, sessions with and without narration alternate.
Summer Festival Games in an "Otherworld" Filled With Yokai
Classic summer festival games get a yokai makeover here too. Playing games surrounded by the presence of yokai feels like stepping into a summer festival from another world. Prizes such as original goods and viewing discount vouchers are awarded based on performance, and every participant also receives a Kitaro sticker as a participation gift.

Session times may change on days when other events are held; please check the official website for details. The dome projection is a looping video approximately 30 minutes long. This is a standing, walk-through event where visitors can move freely around the dome and take photos.

- Children (ages 4 and older): ¥1,000 (tax included)
- Children (ages 3 and younger): Free
- Children in elementary school and younger must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older).
- A ticket issuance fee of ¥200 (tax included) per ticket applies to same-day tickets purchased at the box office.

A ticket issuance fee of ¥200 (tax included) per ticket applies for box office purchases. The Obon period runs from August 10 (Mon) to August 14 (Fri). The box office sells same-day tickets only, and time slots that have sold out online are not available at the box office.
About Shigeru Mizuki
Born March 8, 1922. Grew up in Sakaiminato City, Tottori Prefecture. During the Pacific War, he was sent to Rabaul, a fierce battleground, where a bombing raid cost him his left arm. After returning to Japan, he began as a kamishibai (paper theater) artist before transitioning to manga. His major works include GeGeGe no Kitaro, Kappa no Sanpei, Akuma-kun, and 日本妖怪大全. He passed away on November 30, 2015.
