About "Kurashiki Goldfish Museum — Night Parade of a Hundred Yokai Goldfish"

Period: July 17 (Fri) – September 23 (Wed), 2026

"Night Parade of a Hundred Yokai Goldfish" is a story-style aquarium set over the course of a single night, from the dead of midnight to daybreak, woven together by a rich variety of vividly colored goldfish. Reimagining the classic "Hyakki Yagyo" (Night Parade of One Hundred Demons) through goldfish, the concept invites visitors to join the goldfish's night procession once the world has fallen asleep, pass through a lively and mysterious night festival, and finally arrive at a quiet sunrise. Rather than simply viewing exhibits, visitors follow a single continuous story across all six spaces, through which the four seasons shift over the course of one night. About 40 species and 1,000 goldfish bring color to the story in each space.

Zone Overview

Prologue: Between Night and Night

As the story's opening, this space draws visitors into the world of night. Serving as the entrance to the beautiful yet eerie "Night Parade of a Hundred Yokai Goldfish," it offers an immersive experience into a mysterious world.

Hour of the Rat: A Path of Dreams

Wrapped in the stillness of night, this display offers a fantastical moment that feels like wandering between reality and dreams.

The Dead of Night: Night Festival of a Hundred Goldfish

Built around the concept of a goldfish night festival and downtown crowds, this main zone brings together the buzz of the nighttime city and festival energy. As the main street where goldfish swim through the surrounding clamor, it unfolds into a fantastical display. The main tank, themed around "oni" (demons) by GAKYO MIYAZAWA, carries enough force to feel as if it might bare its fangs and lunge at any moment, drawing visitors into an extraordinary world.

Hour of the Tiger: After the Festival

After the festival's clamor fades, this quiet space carries the wistful mood of autumn. Experience the collaboration of autumn-toned gold and water.

Dawn's Seventh Bell: Between the Moon and the Sun

Built around the concept of the morning glow, this space features water rippling in silvery white, letting visitors feel the gradation of light and shadow woven by the hour of sunrise as they savor the story's lingering afterglow.

Sunrise: After the Dream

Themed around morning light, this space expresses the final stretch of the yokai goldfish's story. It displays goldfish that have returned to their original forms, creating a space where visitors can feel the story's afterglow and enjoy a gentle, calming moment.

Hundred Goldfish Sealing Stamp Rally [¥500 per play]

  • Price: ¥500 per play (tax included)
  • Rental: Glowing hand lantern
  • Prizes: Original stickers (5 designs total, including 1 secret design)

Participants are lent a glowing hand lantern to light the darkened spaces. Carrying the light while making your way through offers an immersive feeling, as if you've become the protagonist of the story exploring another world. Visitors who make their way through the museum and "seal" all the yokai goldfish receive a randomly selected, event-exclusive sticker as a gift — what you get is a surprise until you receive it.
