Moominvalley Park (ムーミンバレーパーク) in Hanno, Saitama is holding "Moominvalley Christmas 2026" (ムーミン谷のクリスマス 2026), an event that lets visitors experience the unique kind of Christmas found in the Moomin stories, from Saturday, October 31 to Friday, December 25, 2026.
This year's highlight is a white Christmas presentation that wraps the whole park in fantastical "snow." Snowfall from artificial snow machines creates a snow mountain in Kanto, a region that sees little snow. The event also features a lakeside photo spot floating on a tranquil winter lake, the "White Terrace of Snow and Light" (雪と光のホワイトテラス); illuminations unique to the world of the Moomin stories, such as an aurora created with smoke and lasers and a Moominhouse (ムーミン屋敷) decorated with snow crystals; and the participatory show "Moominvalley Luminous Night Show: What Is Christmas?" (ムーミン谷のルミナスナイトショー~クリスマスってなんだろう?~), which was well received last year.
In addition, at Emma's Theater (エンマの劇場), which reopened in March this year as an all-weather facility, "Short Story: The Moomins' Christmas" (ショートストーリー~ムーミンたちのクリスマス~) makes its debut. The Christmas story features The Ancestor, a hugely popular character, along with the friends of Moominvalley.

Snow Play in Moominvalley: A White Christmas Every Day

A snow mountain suddenly appears in the Moominvalley area! "Snow Play in Moominvalley" (ムーミン谷でゆきあそび) lets visitors enjoy sledding and snow play every day. Children who rarely get to touch snow can play, and adults can feel like kids again, too.
The snowy scenery alongside autumn leaves, a very rare combination in Kanto, is expected to be at its best from mid-November to mid-December.
- Sledding Area (そりあそび広場): In front of KOKEMUS. Sleds are lent out free of charge, so please do not bring your own.
- Snow Play Area (ゆきあそび広場): At the Inlet Terrace (入り江のテラス)
The "White Terrace of Snow and Light" Makes Its Debut

The Lakeside Terrace (湖上のテラス), floating on a tranquil lake, is transformed into the "White Terrace of Snow and Light." It is decorated with white trees, white wreaths, and white bubbles filled with white smoke, all evoking a white Christmas.
After sunset, the trees and lighting change in time with the music, making it a fantastical spot for soaking in romantic illumination.

Fantastical Lighting Across Moominvalley Park at Night

Illuminations unique to the "world of the Moomin stories" are back this year. Winter scenery is projected onto Moominhouse, and an aurora appears in the sky above the Moominvalley area, casting a fantastical glow on trees just beginning to turn with autumn color. Besides the unique Christmas tree decorated by the Moomin family, who know nothing about Christmas, glittering lights shine throughout the park, including at the lighthouse and the bathing hut (水浴び小屋). It is an illumination that lets visitors enjoy "winter in Moominvalley," a sight available only this season.
