Nagoya Minato Tsutaya Books (Nagoya, Aichi) is hosting a talk event by photographer Yuki Ueda on Sunday, July 12, 2026, to mark the release of his latest book, ARCA この星の物語 (published by 小学館集英社プロダクション). The book gathers around 100 sweeping landscape photographs taken during his travels to places such as the Himalayas, Antarctica, Iceland, and the Uyuni Salt Flats, offering a look at the raw face of our planet as seen in some of its most extreme natural environments.
At the event, Ueda will share stories from his shoots in these regions, including the particular challenges of photographing in polar conditions and the moments that left the strongest impression on him. He will also talk about the meaning behind the title "ARCA" and the themes he hoped to convey through the work.
The event is geared toward anyone who enjoys photography and travel, as well as those with an interest in nature, the cosmos, or the planet itself.
About Yuki Ueda

Yuki Ueda is a photographer born in 1988 in Wakayama Prefecture. After graduating from university, he set off on a round-the-world trip, visiting 45 countries over a year and a half. On returning to Japan, he joined amana inc., then went freelance in 2016. Since then he has traveled to polar and remote regions around the world to capture landscapes few people ever get to see. In recent years he has widened his range from the 8,000-meter peaks of the Himalayas to underwater scenes, wildlife, and Antarctica, and in 2021 he reached the summit of Everest (8,848 m).

About the Book: ARCA この星の物語

ARCA この星の物語 (小学館集英社プロダクション) brings together the landscapes Ueda has photographed from the highest peaks of the Himalayas all the way to Antarctica.

Carrying his camera up mountains, diving into the sea, and traveling to places he has yet to see, Ueda records and shares truths about the world that only those who go there can know, from remote vistas to the stories told by local people. The book features about 100 dynamic landscape photographs, including new work shot during a trip in January 2026. Alongside the story of an "ark" (ARCA) drifting through space carrying life, it invites readers to take in the mysteries of the Earth.
One passage from the book reads: "Seen from space, this blue planet may look like a small boat — an ark that keeps traveling, carrying life aboard."
