Oarai Park Hotel, located in Oarai, Ibaraki Prefecture, has reopened following a full renovation completed in March 2026. Operated by Relo Hotels & Resorts, the property has been reimagined under the concept "Revival of Elegance," weaving together its storied history as a VIP reception venue with a refined new look inspired by 1980s luxury ocean liners.
Renovation Concept: Revival of Elegance
The guiding theme of the renovation — Revival of Elegance — is expressed throughout the hotel's interiors. Subtle touches such as exotic fragrances, curated background music, art installations, and signage all evoke the atmosphere of a transatlantic voyage. At the same time, the hotel's commitment to the local community is reflected in its dining philosophy, which centers on locally sourced ingredients from the Oarai area.
Key Renovation Highlights
Guestrooms & New Sauna / Jacuzzi Suites
All existing guestrooms have been refurbished, and seven new private-suite rooms equipped with a sauna and jacuzzi have been added to the lineup.
Restaurant
Part of the banquet hall and the former front desk area have been converted into a main dining space. The menu emphasizes locally produced ingredients, aiming to connect guests with the flavors of the surrounding town and inspire return visits.
After-Bath Lounge
A new after-bath lounge, complete with massage chairs and complimentary drinks, has been installed on the route from the large communal bath to the guestroom floors.
Coming Soon: Executive Lounge & Thermal Spa
Further renovations are planned within 2026. An adjacent restaurant building will be redeveloped to include a new executive lounge on the first floor — open exclusively to hotel guests — as well as a hidden meeting space where barrel-aged whisky can be enjoyed. A thermal spa facility on the second floor is also slated to open. Additionally, a mixed-bathing sauna facility (swimwear required) is scheduled to open in autumn 2026.
Grand Reopening Special Plan
To celebrate the reopening, the hotel has launched a commemorative plan featuring a Japanese-Western kaiseki dinner course. Rates start from ¥18,700 per person (based on two guests per room), with an additional 5% discount for members.
