Onsen Dojo Co., Ltd., which operates hot spring bathing facilities including the Ofuro Cafe brand from its base in Tokigawa, Saitama Prefecture, has teamed up with Kyodo Shoji Co., Ltd., the Kawagoe, Saitama-based company behind COEDO Brewery, to create a new beer called "OFURO ALE." Developed as part of the COEDO YELL PROJECT to mark Onsen Dojo's 15th anniversary, the beer goes on sale from Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Onsen Dojo's bathing and lodging facilities as well as COEDO KIOSK in Kawagoe, Saitama.
Ahead of the launch, Ofuro Cafe utatane will host a pre-release party open to the public on Saturday, September 12, 2026, combining music, food, and a first taste of the new beer.
What Is OFURO ALE?
OFURO ALE is an anniversary ale created for Onsen Dojo's 15th year in business, developed jointly with COEDO Brewery from the beer's flavor down to its label design.
Onsen Dojo's guiding philosophy is sending culture out into the world, starting from the bath. In that spirit, the anniversary ale is brewed with ingredients grown in Saitama Prefecture in support of local producers: sansho pepper from Tokigawa, the town where Onsen Dojo was founded, yuzu from Ogose, and rice from Higashimatsuyama, resulting in a citrusy, spicy beer suited to sipping after a bath. The beer is brewed in the Kölsch style, which keeps its fruity aroma even as it ages and drinks as crisply as a lager despite being an ale.
Whether it's a cold beer gulped down after a hot bath, paired with a restaurant meal, or sipped slowly while watching a bonfire, OFURO ALE is designed to fit a variety of moments.

Pre-Release Party at Ofuro Cafe utatane
Ahead of the September 19 launch, Ofuro Cafe utatane in Saitama City will hold a pre-release beer party open to the public.

Open to Ofuro Cafe utatane guests aged 20 and over, the party includes a free tasting of OFURO ALE alongside the DJ music event "AFTER SAUNA NITE." No reservation is required, though a separate admission fee to utatane applies. Attendees will also receive a free limited-edition OFURO ALE sticker while supplies last.
