Pentel's Orenz Metal Grip Type, a mechanical pencil that starts writing with a single click, is getting a limited-edition design called "Designed for Modernity." It goes on sale in stages at stationery retailers nationwide from Friday, October 23, 2026.
Orenz is a mechanical pencil series built around the proprietary pipe-slide mechanism "Orenz System," which lets you start writing with one knock and prevents lead breakage by writing without extending the lead from the tip. The Orenz Metal Grip Type adds a low-center-of-gravity metal grip that keeps writing stable and less tiring, even over long sessions.
The limited edition uses a minimal design with subdued colors that highlights both the beauty and the functionality of Orenz as a product. The pairing of a matte translucent barrel with the metal grip creates a cool, understated look that suits simple gadgets and calm workspaces. An eraser with the same design concept goes on sale at the same time.
Highlights of the New Product
1. A Minimal Limited Design With a Matte Translucent Finish
The matte translucent barrel lets the gray, light blue, and white colors of the inner barrel show through. The knock, clip, and other metal parts also have a matte finish, giving the pencil an understated look that puts its functionality front and center.
The pencil comes in three colors, black, light blue, and white, and in two lead sizes: 0.3, suited to fine text and detailed notes, and 0.5, easy to use in a wide range of writing situations.
2. A Matching Pentel Ain Eraser
The Pentel Ain Eraser まとまるタイプ (Matomaru Type), released at the same time, comes in a limited sleeve made of gray paperboard with an industrial feel. The design blends into modern spaces, and it can be enjoyed together with the mechanical pencil.
