About the Haikyu!! Anime
Haikyu!!, by Haruichi Furudate, was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump for eight and a half years starting in February 2012, and its collected volumes have surpassed 75 million copies in circulation. A landmark sports manga, it won acclaim for its passionate youth drama of high schoolers dedicating themselves to volleyball. The TV anime series adapting this work began in 2014, and four seasons were produced and broadcast through December 2020, captivating anime fans in Japan and abroad as well as readers of the original work.
Four years later, Haikyu!! moved on to the big screen. The theatrical film Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle was released in February 2024, depicting the showdown between Karasuno High School and its longtime rival Nekoma High School. It was a major hit, surpassing ¥20 billion in worldwide box office revenue, and won the Japan Academy Film Prize for Excellent Animation of the Year, becoming one of the most talked-about sports anime today.
Production of the sequel, the theatrical film Haikyu!! VS Little Giant (劇場版ハイキュー!! VS 小さな巨人), and the special anime "Haikyu!! Bakemono-tachi no Yukutokoro" (ハイキュー!! バケモノたちの行くところ) has been confirmed. They depict the dramatic quarterfinal moments of Karasuno vs. Kamomedai and Fukurodani Academy High School vs. Mujinazaka.
