French mountain sports lifestyle brand Salomon is launching a Japan-limited collection called "Mt. FUJI COLLECTION" on July 1, 2026, inspired by Mount Fuji — a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The collection will be available at select Salomon stores, authorized retailers, and the official online store across Japan.
Background: Partnership with Fujiyoshida City
In 2025, Salomon signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with Fujiyoshida City in Yamanashi Prefecture. As part of this collaboration, the brand has been running the "Mt.FUJI Re-Style Project," which focuses on rediscovering and revitalizing the natural environment and cultural heritage around Mount Fuji.
Project activities include the renovation of Nakanochaya — a teahouse with more than 300 years of history located between Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine and 馬返し — as well as collaboration with the 8th-station first-aid station on Mount Fuji. The initiative aims to revitalize the ancient trail "Fujimichi" leading to the summit, and to address various challenges facing Fujiyoshida City.
Fujiyoshida City sits at the northern foot of Mount Fuji, a site recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, and is home to a rich natural environment and long history. The city also shares a sister-city relationship with Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in France — established in 1978 — making it a natural fit for Salomon, a brand originating in the French Alps.
The Mt. FUJI COLLECTION
The collection features two of Salomon's signature hiking items, redesigned with a special Mount Fuji logo motif — on the shoe tongue for the footwear and on the front panel for the backpack.
X ULTRA 360 GORE-TEX FUJI LTD
Based on the popular "X ULTRA 360 GORE-TEX" hiking shoe, the FUJI LTD version features a Mount Fuji logo on the tongue as a Japan-exclusive special design.
TRAILBLAZER 20 MONT FUJI
Based on the "TRAILBLAZER 20" backpack, the MONT FUJI version features a Mount Fuji logo on the front panel as a Japan-exclusive special design.
