Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill's Sheep Flock Surpasses 20 for First Time in 11 Years

Five new lambs are set to join the flock at Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill (さっぽろ羊ヶ丘展望台) starting July 6, 2026. With the addition, the total sheep count will reach 23 — the first time the number has exceeded 20 since 2015, marking an 11-year milestone.

Five Lambs Arrive from しおかぜ羊牧場

The five lambs were born in spring 2026 at しおかぜ羊牧場 (Shiokaze Sheep Farm), operated by 株式会社流山, and will be joining the observation hill on a rental basis. Full of energy, the new arrivals will take their place alongside the existing flock as new members of Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill, welcoming visitors as they settle into their new home. The observation hill asks visitors to watch over them warmly as they grow accustomed to their surroundings.

Lamb Naming Campaign

To help visitors feel closer to the new arrivals, the observation hill is also running a lamb naming campaign ("子羊のお名前募集キャンペーン"). This is an opportunity to see the adorable lambs up close and take part in welcoming the newest members of the flock.
